If you could go anywhere with your MINI where would you go, and what would you do?

I would want to drive across Europe in my Cooper (when I get it) and I really want to have a go at the Nurgburgring. Then when I have had my fix of speeding around a track, travel down to the South of France and chill.

I would love to get my Cooper on the twisty, hilly little pig-trail roads of Mykonos, in the Greek Islands. I've driven a rented Hyundai Accent there a couple of times but I bet the Cooper would be more fun! All over the island you see signs warning you of "dangerous winding". Also you sometimes have to stop for cows or sheep.

I would love to do my favorite drive of all time in my MINI when I get it: Highway 1 on the coast of Cali. from San Francisco north to Oregon. I haven't been able to drive in any of the places mentioned in the other posts but I think Highway 1 has got to be one of the most beautifiul drives a person can take. If I could make a living driving that highway then I would. Maybe I could get a job with MINI test driving their new models when the make them!!!

Since I'm picking mine up in Salt Lake City and driving her back to Seattle, I'm taking my favorite route and going up 101 from San Francisco...the beach...the crashing surf...the waaaaay twisty road!

Skrutzen has certainly got the right idea. I drove Highway 1 from San Francisco to Aberdeen, Washington last week, it is a beautiful drive!!!! It twists, bends, rises, turns, falls and performs other manipulations that I didn't know asphalt could do. Unfortunately I had to do it in my Windstar and not in the MCS.

I have already started planning for the same drive next year in the right car.

Good choice skrutzen

I picked up my MINI in Salt Lake on Oct 9th. and brought it home to Seattle. Drove west to the coast and then up 101 from N. Cali to the Washington-Oregon border! The curvey road was a great way to get to know my car. Beautiful drive. I would do it again in a minute.

What I am really looking forward to though, is the Sea to Ski highway from Vancouver BC. up to Whistler. First trip of the season should be within the next month. I can't wait!

I'm hoping to get up to Nova Scotia (via the 11-hour ferry from Portland), which has some pretty amazing coastal drives, not to mention unbelievable seafood (nowhere else have I seen a scallopburger or lobster eggs benedict). Especially Cape Breton Island, which I've never been to. Seems like it would be MINI heaven.

The only time I've been to Nova Scotia, I was driving a rented Cavalier, and it was still stunning.

I agree with Wainair, most definitely MAUI! The Road to Hana would be amazing in my MCS, sunroof open, windows down, ocean breeze coming through, ahhh...Wish I was there now!

For those of you not familiar with the Road to Hana, it is a 50 mile road that has over 600 hairpin turns and 54 one-lane bridges and has some of the most spectacular views imaginable: rainforests, waterfalls, ocean vistas, mountains, exotic plants flowers and trees. It's breathtaking. The experience would be even more amazing behind the wheel of a MINI.

:DGotta go with skrutzen on this one...leaving from West L.A., travelling up the coast to the Oregon border is my favorite! Big Sur, Carmel, then north of San Francisco, Mendocino... Gotta stop in at Fernwood for dinner at Curley's! Then on to Eureka... I love that coastal drive!
As great as the Canada trip was, HWY1 is still my favorite. There is an awesome farmers market in S.L.O. on thursday nights in the summer. Morro Bay is stunning. The sea lion breading ground just north of Hearst Castle. Montery and Santa Cruz.

I'm contemplating doing that trip between Christmas and New Years. Part of the intent would be to catch some pics of the big waves at Mavericks in Half Moon Bay.

Salt Lake city is GORGEOUS. I wanna buy a winter home there sometime. But if you want a REALLY cool drive, go to extreme NW Montana... look up a town called St. Mary's. The roads around there are great, and a guy gives helicopter rides over the mountains for about $100. Its worth the money, I guarantee it. The roads are insane, dropoffs all over the place, no guardrails... and little white crosses all over the place where people have died in their cars. MY KIND OF DRIVING! Mwahahaha! Oh, and for the moon comment... 2 issues.

1. The moon does have gravity.
2. Cold Air induction on the dark side won't do very much without air.

When my MINI arrives I will point it west and head for home. (The Dealer is 50 miles away!) Once I am home, I will drive very slowly through every street in town.

Geesh. Never thought of that. OK then.....Lime Rock Park.
Down the straight pushing 130...hard on the brakes into the hairpin then
***** TO THE WALL through the lefthander, the S, up the
backstretch and after the right hander catch some air, another right
hander and wind out down the straight again.

Anyone know of any great drives on the east coast?

I'm from Cali so of course I'm familiar with the wonder that is highway1. Also think though, I'd like to drive my mini through my hometown area, Sonoma County aka Wine Country! I know of sooooo many roads, starting at Bodega Bay and then twisting and turning through all those gorgeous vineyards, finishing off in Sonoma, that would be such a thrill!

But what about the east coast? Since I'm stuck out here for the next 5 years or so, I want to know where the good drives are?! Nobody seems to have writing anything about this. Please tell me there is some hope!

I live in Albany, NY, and the first weekend that I had my MINI I took it into Vermont, through all the twisty roads, up through Bennington and Manchester and up to the top of Mt. Equinox. It is a great drive for anyone who is in the eastern New York/MA/VT area! Lots of great antiquing along the way, too!
