GP Rear Spoiler

It's expensive, but I'm thinking about one. Has anyone seen a GP in the wild to know how the fins that come down on each side attach to the rear glass? I see that you can order a package with the rear glass, but was wondering if it is possible to just use the existing rear window:

unfortunately you need to order the complete unit as the side fins are attached to the rear window, or so i'm told.

I have a friend who has a GP2 here in the UK so i'll have a look when I see him at the weekend

First of all kfmuller, thanks for your help in the rear diffuser gp thread, now Im waiting for tomorrow to get the parts, and now, I dont understand why, ok, it is OEM, carbon fiber construction, functional, etc... orrange performance will do the same if you want that style, or if you want another more ''disgusting'' hahaha, get the m7 (next weel I'll have it), cheaper options, easy to re-sell and with the extra money you can get more stuff.

My 2cents, cheers from Mexico!

The original Mini spoiler mounts into the rear glass, so you'll need the entire kit.

I'm considering the Fubrication. It looks identical and although still expensive their price is much better than the OEM GP spoiler:

If I'm not mistaken, I thought some people had issues installing it as it wasn't a direct swap (like the M7 is). I read that around October 2012 on NAM but I can't find the original thread. I'm thinking about the Fubrication as well but I don't want to spend $800 to have issues and an 'iffy' fit (as I'm sure you don't either).

I reached out to Fubrication to verify the compatibility and to see if they have install instructions/diagrams. If and/or once I get them I will post.

I've seen a few threads on it. This one says the install is easy, at least on the R53:

True though, I don't want to spend that kind of money for install problems.
Price alone may be enough reason to opt out.

Rear spoiler options for the R56 just aren't that many. They're either crazy expensive or, in the case of the M7, don't look good. I think M7 is too big and doesn't look proportional on the mini.

I may just get one if these and be done with it:

Those aren't cheap either though for what it is.

I was told from Fubrication that they have redesigned the wing to fit the Gen II Minis perfectly. The rep will be sending me install instructions tomorrow so folks like us that are interested can see if it's an easy install and worth the price.

So what happened with this? Did they ever get back to you?

The Orranje wing works out at £350 delivered to the US, which works out to be $533.
These fit both the R53 and R56 Minis. If used in conjunction with a Cooper spoiler on the R56 the look and finish is superb!

How do these actually mount on the hatch, do holes need to be drilled?

I can't comment on the other makes, but the Orranje one requires two holes to be drilled with the supplied drill-bit either side of the boot. You don't see these, as when the boot's closed they are hidden. You then use the supplied aluminium rivnut inserts in the drilled holes, lock them in place and that's that done.

Here's a shot of how the spoiler looks up close on the boot -

The Fubrication also drills in to the hatch. Easy install by the looks of it. I can't seem to be able to upload the PDF on to this blogsite, even with the reduced size it doesn't work. If you're really interested, PM me a good email address for you and I will send you the PDF that Fubrication sent me.

I have the fubrication wing on my r56 and the install is very simple. It is definitely very good quality and a nice fit.
