So I've had my '06 MCS for a few months now. I have a good feeling I'm going to be hanging onto this car for a good amount of time so I've set up an auto transfer out of my checking account into a secondary savings so that when this **** New England weather stops in a few months I can do some much needed maintenance to the car.

The car itself has 128,xxx on it. I'm the 3rd owner and its been garaged up until me. Car was services @ Mini of Peabody and I got the service history from them...24 pages. EPS fan has been replaced, and then cleaned out recently, the Passenger side motor mount was replaced @ 110k, and besides that just basic maint. Just to give you an idea, the P.O. brought the car in and for a complaint that the wipers were streaking...Yeah.

I'm planning on doing a big service in March. I'd like to replace the following and I'd like recommendation on which brands you guys feel are the best (if applicable).


Supercharger seals (bearings if needed as well)
17% pulley
Accessory belt
Plug wires
Coil Pack
Spark Plugs (would like to go a step colder)
Oil
Transmission Fluid
Crank sensor o-ring

Anything else engine wise that I should tackle while I'm going to have the front of the car off? I plan on tackling the fuel filter, and LCA at a later date when I install a set of springs I have sitting on the shelf.

Supercharger seals (bearings if needed as well) MINI
17% pulley- 17% is the same from any company
Accessory belt- Dayco 532 or 535
Plug wires- Stock seems to be the ones to stay with no matter how modified your MINI is
Coil Pack- Again stay stock here.
Spark Plugs (would like to go a step colder) NGK 4285 1 step colder
Oil- Mobil 1
Transmission Fluid- Redline MTL
Crank sensor o-ring- Stock MINI

Just installed the pulley package from Way this weekend and all smiles! Package comes with a Napa belt, NGK plugs (colder) and the pulley. Hit me up if you wanna buy the WMW pulley puller which is a must for the swap.

Stay MINI for all the gaskets and seals. I've had good luck with Bosch wires on my E36 M3 but am still running stock on the MINI.

 

New coolant hoses - OEM

 

And, ATI or Fluid damper, Low Speed Fan Resistor bypass, Coolant & reservoir change, PS pump hoses w/ the LCA......

 

high flow air filter and silicone intake tube is a must!
i prefer the new non-oil version of the air filter. that oil gets into the engine, and its a pita to clean, re-oil. Amsoil makes said filter. the Nano-Filter
all silicone intake tubes seem to be the same.

Make sure the fan is working properly so the can stays cool. My resister was fried, Rockauto sells the OEM resistor set up for $20 bucks.

What's the damper for? As for the reservoir, I know they had a tendency to leak. Did they have a revision that doesn't? And is it possible I already have it based on the MY?

Actually installed a low mileage DDM intake last week, along with a BSH Catch Can. The stock tube fit like garbage, def want to pick up an Alta or Samco inlet tube asap.

 

if you have that DDM intake, id rec'd the samco; ive heard the are longer to start with, allowing for more material to trim as needed.

the damper is for your crank pulley. the after-market ones are lighter = more available power.

for your possible leaky reservoir, if its not cracking along its seams, it should be ok. its the heat that makes them split. mine has not split, but to add insurance, i coated mine with hi-temp paint. its about $7 a can, and useful for other stuff too.

i have a set of stock wires and coil pack, about 60k miles on them if your interested in replacing your current setup....

i think if you are going to have it apart the supercharger service and some nice wheels on the mini when you get those springs on.

Haha which forum did you see that build thread on, Vortex? These wheels are going to be my winter wheels. Eventually I'll pick up a nice set of something authentic for the Mini to run in summer time that I can use for auto-x unless I get a dedicated set of R comps or Z1 Star Specs for that. Would like to attend at least 1 track day this year so we'll see.
