Anyone have any experience in "cleanly" running a positive wire to the battery from the boot? The wiring kit requires a direct battery connection and I would like to do it without drilling or cutting anything that is not cheaply or easily replaceable. Drilling out a rubber hole plug would be acceptable.
Also does anyone know if the bolt on trailer hitch is capable of towing a 900 lb Sea-Doo and trailer?

 

It looks like tree s one available or the Euro Countryman. Not see if it would fit the US model but it should be cleanest install and is rated 1200kg which is about 2500lbs.

 

I have heard, twice, from people 'in the know', that attaching a trailer hitch to your Countryman may void your warranty. While in Europe, hauling with a CM in encouraged, for some reason over here it is grounds for warranty problems. They assume that if you attach a hitch, that you have been hauling something.

So, just in case... please check it out yourself. Call your SA, or MINI USA, or something...

 

I put a MINI FINI hitch on and haul a 10 foot livin light trailer with no problem and love the hitch setup nice clean install by Detroit Tuned

That way I can remove it later and no one is the wiser.

The issue is the harness needs its own dedicated power to the battery to power the lights and I am not keen on ripping things apart to run the lead unless its not too difficult. I am wondering if I could just power it by running it off the cigarette lighter outlet in the back? Surely it is rated for enough amps to do the job? I'll have to see how much the trailer light module draws.

The MINI trailer wiring module comes with a 10 amp fuse so it would be safe to power it with the 12 volt outlet in the boot which has to be on at least a 15 to 20 amp circuit. I am out of town and not with my car. Can someone confirm the fuse amperage for the rear outlet? This would make the install very easy.
