It's not bad to install on an R55. You will need a new steering wheel, switches, and the SZL module. Then car just needs to be coded after installing the parts. I did it on my R55.

Not sure what all the costs are but if you have to have the dealer "code" the car to accept the changes you can bet that will be charged by hourly rates with a minimum just like any other service.

I had cruise on my first MINI and thought I couldn't live without it when I got the second which didn't have it. I don't miss it at all. I find it more fun to put my foot on the petal.

I tried to use the cruise control once, I couldn't stand it... I didn't know what to do with my right foot!

Wow, I thought cruise control was standard in all 2nd gen cars. When did it become standard?

I usually only turn it on for a couple minutes every hour if I want to stretch my legs during a long trip.

ive talked to 2 different sales reps and they both told me it was an option that needed to be added while the car was being built. they even asked for my vin and told me that it didnt show any options in my car regarding cruise control and told me to look at after market options. wtf?????????? and had no knowledge of programming the car that way...
