Any major clutch issues since the new design in 2011?

Im going to take delivery of my car this week most likely and have been thinking of adding the extended maintenance plan. I already have the extended warranty plan. I was wondering if the new self adjusting clutches they started using in the 2011 up models is doing better than the early models.

Don't know, but they feel like crap. Very strange uptake.

Agreed on the new clutch have a weird feel. When I have a newer loaner, I always kill it.

I don't have clutch info, but you did mention extended coverage. You don't have to purchase extended maintenance or the extended warranty on delivery unless you want to include it in some sort of financing. The price is negotiable or at least variable. Search the forums for that info.

Sorry to rain on your parade, but my 2012 Copper needed a new clutch at 2K miles. It had a weird vibration when contacting the flywheel both pushing in and letting out. Rep first said it was me, but then the mechanic took it for a spin and agreed needed to change. Since then, I'm at 11K and no issues...so not sure if it was a one-off issue or common. The service guys said that they had also switched to a single mass flywheel.

BMW/MINI changed to a self adjusting clutch, like all other BMW's, hence the weird feel.

thanks for the info, I was thinking of adding it now into the finance. That's why I mainly asked about this since I would really want it to cover the clutch.

Jazman sorry to hear your car had issues that early, but im glad they fixed it.

As for the warranty I added the XL plan.
