R60 Query - Cold Boost Tube for R60
I bought the ALTA cold boost tube, thus deleting the intercooler muffler (once installed). Before doing anything, I have been scoping out how to do it. I checked the instructions, but it fails to mention a hose/pipe which runs right below the muffler and which is actually anchored to it. None of the instructions make mention of that. It may be something unique to the R60. How would you (anyone) suggest the pipe be detached from the muffler. It is merely anchored/attached to the muffler. Advice, please.
Has anyone installed an ALTA cold boost tube on an R60? Anyone? I would be surprised, but you never know. I just want to make sure that if I cut off the attachment point of the coolant-related hose which is attached to the intercooler muffler, I don't end up causing potential problems. If nobody has installed one of these, then I guess I am on my own.

mine looks just like this: #9 below

there is a mounting arm off of the muffler (where the bolt #circled 3 is)
the alta hose replaces everything from the 2 hose clamps above and below #9
edit: my bad ... you say you bought the "tube"? if so it just replaces the muffler itself and attaches to the hose above and below the muffler

Thanks for your response. I have seen the diagram you attached. My original query relates to a coolant-related pipe which is actually attached to the bottom of the muffler. See the highlighted section, along with a yellow arrow, pointing at the section of coolant-related hose which is attached to the muffler in the attached picture. I assume it is attached there for support purposes, but I want to make sure I can just cut it off without negative effects. Thanks again.
good info! i was looking at the muffler delete pipe that minia mania sells the other day. please post a review once installed. mini made the countryman so quiet all i hear is the over head cam/valves. it sounds like a diesel

the coolant lines are attached to the muffler via the diagragm with the #11 connectors basically a ball and socket push pull type connector. once the muffler is gone you dont have the socket side anymore to connect to. so i just moved the line over with the existing #11 connector on the bottom by the intercooler so it would not come in contact with the radiator fan. ill check it in a week to see if they moved at all. if they did ill just secure it with a zip tie (probably gonna be a pain which is why i didnt do it to begin with) but it looked ok and wasnt bouncing or swing around when i moved it over. when i go back under the car ill try and take a couple pics
Cold Boost Tube for R60 All4 6M - Installed
Installed the Boost tube. Not too difficult, though I dropped a bit into the innards of the engine compartment and ended up having to remove some of the trim pieces along the bottom of the front end. No biggie. Determined that rather than trying to get a torx bit into the muffler screw (only one) by pushing the coolant pipe away from the fender, it proved easier to get access by pushing the coolant pipe towards the fender. Once the screw was removed and I removed the attachment point for the coolant pipe, I was ready to remove the two pipe clamps. Not a problem. Installing the new pipe was straightforward and there were no major issues. I test drove the car without the intercooler muffler, and I noticed no change. I was going to do an extended drive to test it out, but I noticed that I was having problems shifting into 3, 4, 5, and 6. Reverse, 1, and 2 seemed fine. Went back to the house and noticed that Boost Tube has some clearance problems on the 6M version of the CM. There is a metal plate just below the level of the bottom of the coolant expansion tank which moves depending on what gear you are in. The bottom section of the Boost Tube is just long enough to cause interference with the aforementioned plate. I think I will need to cut off a 1/4 inch or so off the bottom of the pipe, but for the moment, it is zip tied in place. I also had to zip tie the coolant pipe to the fan frame so as to avoid it moving around too much. The upshot is that the install was easy, I have yet to notice any difference (but I will continue test driving), and there is an interference problem on the CM 6M. Not sure about the auto, though. If someone could chime in, that would be great. SteveT
