Battery Prices

Shopping around for a new OEM fit battery in the bay area for a 2002 R53. Both Mini dealer and Autozone (Duralast Gold) want $150.

Have prices gone up in the past few years? Posts from a few years back quote $120 to $130.

I just had to buy one as well for $149.00. I couldn't believe it - and its a small battery for a small car... I just bought one for another car 3 years ago for $65.00...

Not sure if the electric car market jacked the price of all batteries - or if there are new EPA laws concerning lead(?)... But what are you going to do...??? I looked one up for my truck and its $189.00...

Ok. I thought my dealer and Autozone was trying to rip me off due to the cold weather. Thanks for the replies.

What's inflation? Is that like inflating my tires?

You'd have to decide if it's worth having, but Wally World has that H5 listed in their Everlast MaXX line, for $99.95 (at least, for my zipcode / store).

650 CCA, 3-year free replacement.

You can buy it online & get the discount & then pick it up at the store. You can getter deeper discounts by buying online than they give their employees & commercial accounts. Just use the discount code at checkout. "P20" will get you 20% off. Not sure about 25%.

I just paid $150 for the Duralast Gold at Advance Auto. Bought it online with the discount, picked it up at the store. Returned the old dead battery to them and they gave me $12 back ("core credit"). So $138 all told.

Yikes! At Sears, they have Diehard Gold for $145 and Diehard Advance Gold for $175. Both are group 47 size. Had no idea these little batteries were so expensive!

Has anyone checked Costco?

MINIMotherFigure paid $125 for hers, wholesale. They are a DIN size/fit so can be more expensive than run of the mill units.

I'm soooooo glad somebody brought this up and I'm sure this has been covered many times in other places, but since we've all determined batteries are crazy costly...I'll be slicing the factory battery box and ditching the factory exhaust I had to reweld back on b/c straight piped was wayyy too loud. I know what I'm facing with buttoning up the recessed battery box on my 04 R53, but what size battery do I put in my trunk? Small or factory or go bigger? I guess it's personal preference, but what is everyone's opinions?

Sam's Club stocks the correct size 47 under the DURACELL brand made by East Penn (DEKA). Last time I checked, they were $89.95. Perfect fit, 3yr./8yr. warranty. Hard to beat.

Intersting. Especially since Trillian did NOT like starting this morning at below zero. She did so, begrudgingly.

yep - my local Sams has the same battery and price - and they put it in for free. It beats autozone by better that $40 (AZ does give $12 back on the core of your old battery)
