If you're looking for an OEM replacement, if you shop around, you can find some Bilstein Touring shocks for a couple hundred bucks new.
Or you could take a chance on the ebay specials and let us know how they are

I smell an awesome budget project in the works...
But in all seriousness, Koni is running a lot of sales across their vendor range right now and you could get either a set of yellows or FSD for a good price and have a solid upgrade to boot! Just my. 02.

I´m not sure, but in my opinion best way to go is Bilstein´s B6 or B8/B12 if you want your car lowered.
There are more options, and here in Spain we make a bespoke dampers with very good results, but this is another story.

What dampers do you make in Spain?
We make bespoke dampers to suit every application or customer needs. They are different for each car and customer depending on weight per wheel, driving style, customer preferences, spring ratio and so on.
Front is bi-tube and rear monotube and we just use best parts available. As I´m not a vendor here, and don´t want to be illegal, I can send you by private the graphics comparing it with the JCW shocks and tech specs if you want to learn more about this.

We also produce fixed and adjustable front camber plates that don´t modify ride height, finishing at this moment adjustable trailing arms and special brake pads and studying and designing a 4-pot brake caliper kit to suit the OEM discs sizes (276x22/280X22/294X22) and to be fitted on 15" wheels if the customer wants it.
I´m not here as a vendor, just to learn and to teach about our experiences, so please forgive me about this post.
Ah ok, I just know my Fortune Coilovers have "Bespoke Suspension Systems" stamped on it, that's why I asked. Mine have custom valving for my car as they installed and tweaked them using my car as the test bed.
I was just curious because when I bought them, I hadn't heard of bespoke suspensions before and saw your post about it. Either way, I love the Fortune coilovers and they are very high quality products.
