R56 RIP Horizon Blue MINI
RIP Horizon Blue MINI
My Horizon Blue MINI Cooper met its demise a few weeks back. It gave up its life to protect the life of my 17 year old daughter who was driving it. My daughter collided with another 17 year old who was cited for entering the roadway improperly.
The impact was great enough to knock a Ford Explorer on its side. Fortunately, my daughter was not hurt. The police and emergency personnel who responded were amazed. The all agreed that the MINI must be a "very well constructed car".
I recently replaced the blue MINI with an Eclipse Gray MINI Cooper S. Hopefully, the new MINI will not have to act so valiantly in the future.

Wow, that's quite an impact! These cars are real tanks. My wife and I agreed that if and when we have a family, that we would get a Countryman. These cars are small, good on gas, and seem to hold up well against small to medium sized vehicles, just wish the rest of the country would get off this kick to buy behemouths to "protect" themselves and their family, they tend to make situations worse, especially when they allow inexperienced drivers take them out on the road, might as well give them a Winnebago as their first car.
Very glad to hear that she made it out unscathed and safe. These little MINIs are amazing cars. While its terrible that this did happen, I am glad to hear of yet another MINI saving its passengers, despite being it a rough accident. Great little machines!
I'm sad to see that there is one less Horizon Blue MINI on the road but I'm glad that your daughter is ok. Was the other kid ok? My sister is 17 and my family thought that I was crazy to let her borrow my car when I lived at home but I knew that if she happened to be in an accident my MINI would protect her.

Glad everything worked out, but on the flip side, if you provided your daughter some real drivers ed, it's entirely possible she could have avoided that accident in the first place.
Maybe something like the BMW CCA survival school? Skip Barber? BMW M school.
Most kids don't know squat about car control. (what a car can and can't do, what they car, and can't do). It might be a worthwhile investment. It would be if it were my kids... Probably way better than an armed guard in a school...
