Weird HD/Non-HD FM Echo

Been driving my new 2013 Clubman for a couple weeks now, got a question about how I can disable weird echo on the OEM FM radio:

Fairly often, on more than one station, I get a frequent HD signal (I can see when 'cause the channel selector text changes) that comes in as an echo chamber effect , then stops when the regular signal kicks in again.

Tried doing the "List & Select" thing but that only lets me pick the available HD signals, which I do NOT want to do 'cause they're different programming than the non-HD.

Can I stop this somehow?

I'd noticed it in a Countryman S loaner I had for most of November, figured it was something about the audio system in that vehicle. Never thought it'd be a "feature" on a new one!!

sounds like you are in a fringe HD reception area

you can turn HD off in the radio settings
