New outfit for Tackleberry

Well guys, and gals, it looks like Tackleberry is going to get a new JCW Aero Kit for a NewYear's gift. It appears that MINI has a bunch of these kits they need to get rid of and they have drasticly dropped the price. So, Wednesday morning, I am going to the dealership and order the kit. I will also need to order a new M7 Tuning carbon fiber splitter and a rear carbon fiber diffuser.

That's pretty crazy. Normally around $2K, right?

I'm already getting the front bumper and side skirts due to a recent front end mishap... Was trying to figure out a way to get the rear bumper done, but when I called the dealer (this past Wednesday) they gave me a price of $500 for the rear bumper alone.

Woah, woah, woah wait a minute. Where are you getting these prices?

If I can score a front bumper for under $300 I'm so about to act on that. Also, is this just for the pre-2011 models? They very slightly changed what the JCW kit looked like in '11 right?

I'm looking at my parts list from my body shop. The front bumper cover isn't too bad at $265. But once you throw in the right and left spoiler ($90), fog bezels ($50), lower grille ($47) and air inlet finishers (? $70) it's a different story. And if you're me, you're paying for labor.

Still lost as to why MINI would ever have to have a fire sale on a JCW aerokit. A factory kit... that I would get. Someone here on NAM once pointed out the difference. Big difference.

I have a confidential source. What has happened is that MINI has an overrun of these kits and needs to get rid of them. I would recommend checking with your local MINI parts guy and ask him about the recent price change on these items. It is a three page memo they would have received just recently.

Well I just called my dealer, Crevier MINI in Santa Ana. They seem to be giving standard pricing at least on the 2nd gen aero kits.

I mentioned that a dealer in FL was selling them for less than 1/2 price and she said that last year they did the same thing with gen 1 aero kits. I guess they bought 3 in every color back in '07 and then last year they sold everything they had leftover for 10% under dealer cost.

I'm still going to call a few other dealers in my area and see what they have to say. But as of now it's looking like Pip isn't getting a new front bumper quite yet :( I think I'll have to go back to my original plan of getting in an accident and having insurance buy me one. I'm kidding of course.
