OEM cupholder installation

I know there's a lot of oem cupholder haters out there. And maybe a few that don't hate it that much - but I broke down and bought one anyway.
Problem is - my '05 only has a single screwhole on the pillar but the cup holder has 2 indents on it. Now I can't drill a large hole in the pillar to accomodate the bottom indent 'cos then I'd have nowhere to screw in the bottom screw.

Has anyone come across this? I don't want to buy a later model pillar just for this. Any ideas?

pictures?

one of the screws might be behind the glovebox lid (open the lid and see if it's behind the side of the door)

Yup - there it was hidden behind the lid. D'oh. Amateur.
Thanks!

Now - where does this piece of double-sided tape go? I'd imagine it'll reduce rattle. Anywhere in particular or just anywhere at all?

Maybe hold on to the tape and remember where you hid it. After 65K miles the pillar covers decided to join forces in a rattle contest to see could they drive the copilot nuts before the driver. Luckily the driver has diminished hearing so it didn't bother. Double sided tape took care of the problem.

The pillar holding the cup holder will rattle because the pillars aren't connected to anything at the bottom. I'd suggest using that tape in 2 places: between the cup older and pillar so you don't scratch the pillar piece (for when you remove your cup holder later and another piece between the pillar and the lower trim piece, that's where it will rattle from.

I fixed my pillar rattles. Took the pillars out. Put felt where the pillars meet plastic on the center console and put 1" foam on the bottom, where the pillars fit into. No more rattles! Feels very solid now. Total project time 45 min, mostly to take care not to damage any parts in the removal process!!
