Spare tire needed

I need to take down my curb rashed wheel to get it fixed, but seeing as I have a MCS (runflats no spare) and they wont let me leave my car there over night I am in desparate need to borrow a spare or wheel. I know this is a particularly weird request but I don't really know what else to do. I'm in New York City.
Thanks,

Clay

FYI, Honda wheels also fit the MINI. I wouldn't DRIVE on one without making sure that you have the proper offset, etc., but if you just want something to bolt on while your car sits parked (e.g., in a pay lot or a garage), knowing about the Honda wheels may help.

Otherwise, why don't you just put it in a garage for the day? I'm sure if you slide the attendants a few extra bucks they'll let you park it with the understanding that the car can't be moved for a day (since it'll have only 3 wheels). I know that NYC parking garages are pricey, but hey, what isn't in the City?

I'd loan you one of my mounted snows for the day, but I'm not in the area. Good luck!

well since I have no extra car, or a honda owner friend, I cant really shove one of those on it. Also, the wheel repair place is a few miles away and they told me they could not leave the three legged car at their shop overnight. Apparantly its a machine shop and they dont have anywhere to put it...so i figured one nice MC owner in the city could help me out.

I'm sure one nice NYC MINI owner would love to help you out, your problem is just the timing (i.e., I'll bet you're flooded with offers of help in about 3 days. NAM isn't exactly an instantaneous form of communication for most users).

The tip about Honda wheels was related to the fact that you shouldn't have any problem finding a salvage Honda wheel/tire...when I lived in the City years ago, there used to be people selling car parts on the street corners in parts of Brooklyn or Queens...whereas finding a MINI wheel might be challenging at best. I'd think with a bit of calling around, you could get fixed up for around $25.

And the garage suggestion was about parking it near where you live and then taking the wheel off. Don't you have any parking garages near you?

Clay, I'm not sure if your car is driveable?? Can you limp it across town?

What if you brought it to (shudder) Mini of Manhattan and just paid the xtra few bucks of going to the dealer? It would be cheaper than a garage, and they would keep the car until they fixed the problem.

This kind of hassle is EXACTLY why I moved out of Manhattan about a month ago. Plus, it's warm and sunny here in Ft Lauderdale!

well it seems that the dealer only replaces, and doesnt do any refinishing. since ive got the r90's they are like $385 a wheel for some rash, that seems a bit too pricey for me. I went to the bronx to find a suitable drivable wheel but after going through taking the wheel off and trying four different ones with no luck and a waste of 3 hrs, I think the only good option is to borrow. At this point im almost up to buying one, but I really dont want to take up that much space in my car, anyone want a used spare? Or , if anyone would let me use a wheel for a few days, just so that I can take my wheel down to the refinishing place and back. I'll offer some nice chap $20 for the usage.

My tire guy says that he sends his wheels to this guy for repair:

Dunn Sport Rim Repair
3969 Bronxwood Ave.
Bronx, NY 10466
718-653-3866

You might give them a call as they may have a "loaner" wheel around whlie they fix yours.

I would lend you mine but I'm up in Westchester.

Thanks SO much, Dunn has solved my problem. They take cars in and let you leave them, they will also mount a tire (since I have another tire and my current one is suffering from an impact bubble). They are recommended all over the audi message boards. Will post how good a job they do in a few days.

That's too bad about Mini of Manhattan only replaciing. They really SUCK in the service department anyway. I had a lot of trouble with them. Glad you found the guys in the BX.
