Anyone heard anything about these or is anyone using one? The dyno shows a decent hp increase and a 18lb weight loss?

Sounds good to me, anyone have any experience with these?

jefe,

This product is not a new concept, but definitely a new packaging idea, and a pretty neat one at that. This is basically the modification to the stock exhaust that has been posted on this board before. Often referred to the "one-ball" modification. This modifies the stock exhaust, by removing the other resonator and removing all extraneous tubing. The weight savings is about right from what is quoted on the site. Somewhere in the 18-20lb range. No dyno has ever been posted on this mod, but people have indicated that they have felt a difference. Stock sound also appears to be retained, with just a slight more pronounced "throatiness". Helix sells an entire stock system with this mod already incorporated. Otherwise, people in the past have had to go to a custom shop to get the removal and have a new mandrel pipe bend put in. This company appears to be selling the bend, which is a neat idea, since a lot of shops don't have a mandrel pipe bender. The price appears to be a little high. Do a search on the "one ball" or stock exhaust modification. You should be able to find a lot of information on it.

Hello, Jefe

I have a fast-18 on my 03 Cooper S, and it works as well as they say on the website.

There is a definite difference that you can feel the first time you drive it.

I think that the reason it works so well is that the mandrel bends are actually larger in diameter than the stock pipe. there are 2 bends and each one is bent seperately then the 2 pieces are tig welded together. The ends are swedged to make them fit the stock pipes correctly.

This causes virtually no back pressure or restriction.

My favorite part is the improvement in the sound. This mod makes the "S" sound the way it should have from the factory. It is only slightly louder, but the sound is MUCH deeper and more powerful. It make listening to the exhaust pure joy, and there is none of the drone that some of the catback systems are plagued with.

I would highly recommend this mod. As for the price, you get all the benefits of a catback at 1/4 to 1/5th the cost. For me this is a no brainer.

the company actually dyno'ed their own product.
here's their dyno

Apparently the diamter and bends make a pretty decent difference.

What would this do to a JCW kit, since the Works exhaust is integrated to help create the overall smooth factory feel of the car's performance- anyone know if this replacement would work well?

Sorry, no independent dyno has been posted. I don't put a lot of stock in vendor's dynos.

This would only work on the stock MCS exhaust system. The JCW Replaces that already.
