Windows and Sunroof Open

I am sure I have seen a thread on this problem before, but cannot find it right now, but has anyone else had the problem with their windows and sunroof opening while car is locked and parked? I have a 2011 CMS All4 which this just happened to. What was the problem/outcome?

Auto Open Feature

If you hold down the "Unlock" button on the key fob for 5 seconds it tilts the sunroofs and opens all 4 windows.

I am aware of that, after owning 5 MINI's I know you have to really hold the button down for that option to work. In this case I just hit the lock button as usual, listened for the "clunk" and lights to flash and then left. This has never happened to me before - just wondering if there may be a short in the electrical system. I guess I'll add it to the list of stuff to look into on my next service visit.

Where was the key fob? I've had mine in my pocket and realized that I was pushing that button without even knowing it.

^^^^This.

I guess it could be a short, but I found this happening to me a few times.

Me too. Happens maybe once a month or so. Funny, but kindof annoying, too!

As I mentioned before, out of all the MINI's that I've owned this has never happened unless it was intentional. Fob was put in my purse as always - I guess I'll wait and see if it happens again.

This happened every now and then on my 2003 MCS. It would happen overnight. Slowly happened more frequently over time. Turns out it was an electrical issue....some part was malfunctioning. And the door had to be taken apart to replace. Lots of labor. Was around a $700-800 repair.

Hopefully you just accidentally pressed it without knowing it.

It happened to me last year when my All4 was brand new. during a snow storm, I went outside to shovel my front steps and clean off my wife's car while my car keys were on the kitchen counter. Went back out an hour later to clean off mine and found the doors and windows were open as well as the sunroof.
Went back to the dealer and had this feature de-activated.
If I hadn't had to go back out, there would have been a foot of snow in my car. Thankfully i have the vinyl seats instead of cloth which would have been wet for days or leather which would have been ruined.
