Navigation & Audio Nav System Changes MY 2007-2013
Nav System Changes MY 2007-2013
I just ordered a 2013 Cooper hardtop. I was curious about the navigation system. My friend has a 2007 hardtop w/nav. The system seems pretty good,it works ok but does have some quirks. Does anyone know when Mini introduced the in-dash nav and how the system has evolved over the years? Is it possible for the voice to have a British accent? In her car, whenever the nav system is in use,it mutes the stereo for the entire trip. Is there a way to override that?
Thank you for helping a Newbie, I ordered my car on December 3rd,this is going to be the longest 2 months of my life!

The 2007-2010 models got the BMW CCC system (640x240 display, DVD maps), later models get the CIC (1280x480, USB/SSD Maps). BMW has already replaced the CIC with the NBT system, which feautures 3D building display improved graphics etc, but the MINI will only be getting this with the new generation F56.
In some situations it does announce the street in my 2011. I've never figured out when it has tried versus not. The interface is very similar to iDrive.
