Passenger seat belt warning

Does anyone know how to turn this off? I always leave my phone or something on my passenger seat and it starts beeping because it things someone is sitting there :/

They make a fake latch to put in the buckle I think its called chimex. Your phone alone will set it off? Usually mine has to have something pretty heavy like my school books or something before it makes any noise.

I use mine all the time, since I always have my purse and iPad sitting in the passenger seat.

This is the one I bought, because one can never have too much carbon fiber.

Oddly, I've never gotten this, but if I put my backpack or a lot of groceries on the seat my airbag off light will come on. When I have a passenger it does not, and with lighter objects or none it does nothing as well. Strange.

I thought weight less than 20 lbs were not supposed to set it off. I would say there is a problem of a phone sets it off.
Incidentally, my friend has a pug who hovers right at 20lbs. I dog sit for her periodically and I get in trouble if that mutt sets off the seatbelt warning in her Lexus on the way home. Remind me never to let her trade that in for a MINI.

Run the passenger seat belt around the back of the seat, and plug the buckle into its holder. No more annoying chimes.

I have this issue and the Mini Service Manager said that the sensor is capacitive based and not weight. So your phone could set it off or a number of other items in the car. Seems like an odd system to me, but it seems to be the case.

I'm going to code mine out. I get alarms when my phone is on the passenger seat.

If you drive for about 2-3 minutes, the beeping will stop and not come back on again as long as the car is running.

Do a search for R60 coding. Easier than trying to explain. You essentially re code the ECU.

This is what I use, keep it in the rail.

Also, the ECU (for the engine) is inaccessible from the programming port - it's the car main processor that can easily be reprogrammed.
