Wont shut off?? 2012 All4 Automatic

I had low tire warning, so I wanted to examine the tire. Jacked up LF tire, It would not turn, so got the key to take the transmission out of park. Had to start car to move lever to neutral position but then there is no way turn the engine off!

The lever has to be in Park to shut off the engine.
The stories about runaways ( Toyotas) are starting to make more sense.
How would a person diagnose a bad axle, if you cant have it in neutral with the engine off?

Seems cray.

OK, that was a typo but it passed spellcheck.

Why not just leave the engine running in N and examine the tire? Make sure your parking brake is on!

You can try to press and hold the start/stop button while in N, then it should shut down. Works in my R56, should be the same.

If it's like my wife's automatic Clubman:

0. Engine off
1. Don't put your foot on the brake
2. Push the start/stop button twice
3. Shift into neutral

from page 50 of the 2012 cms all4 OM:

Before driving into a car wash
By following these steps, the vehicle is able to
roll:
1. Place the remote control, even with Comfort
Access, in the ignition lock.
2. Depress the brake.
3. Move the selector lever to position N.
4. Switch off the engine.

ok

Thanks, that answers that. I read the manual, I guess I didn't register that cause I never go to a car wash.

I still wonder about not being able shut the engine off when driving with the fob in your pocket, guess I'll have to try it.
