Help me to figure out how to do a custom navi install!!

Just came across this custom install navi system on youtube. I have an R53 and I am wondering if anyone has done something similar before? If you have please help me figure it out!

That's pretty cool! I thought about installing it in the dash somewhere and having a new dash panel custom made to fit around it so it would look built-in, but that's years down the road.
