Phone Pairing

Hi, I was hoping someone can help me out. I just bought a 2011 Countryman and it has all of the buttons for answering phone calls but the radio menu does not have a phone menu option so I can't pair it.

Is there something wrong or does it not have that option?

Thanks in advance!

Ryan

All MINI's have the same steering wheel now, so you may not actually have that option. You can tell if it has it by looking at the area at the front of the center rail on the shifter surround. If you have a USB and an AUX then you should have Blootooth. If you only have an AUX than you do not have it.

Ah ok, thanks. I only have aux, no USB.

Any idea if it is a feasible addition?

you best option is an aftermarket unit. The DICE Media Bridge is a common upgrade for bluetooth connectivity in older BMW's, so it might work on the MINI as well.

You might also call Bavarian Sound Werks or Bav Auto and ask for options.

A $16K Hyundai Accent has i-Pod integration and Bluetooth. A $26K MINI doesn't. Anyone else think this be a bit odd?

Maybe that is why they made it standard instead of Sirius for 2013? I drove a $16k Hyundai before buying Ruby, and sure it had iPod/Bluetooth, but it still was no comparison.

I was recently given a $40,000+ 2012 BMW328i loaner and that car does not have bluetooth either. IMHO, Bluetooth connectivity is a safety need, not a want.

It's an economics thing. I don't know if this is still true, but the budget hotel places used to be the only ones where you'd get free WiFi, but at expensive hotels it was extra. For someone looking for a cheap hotel, free WiFi is a big plus. People staying in expensive hotels are often traveling on business (company will reimburse) or care more about location and comfort than WiFi.

It's a similar deal with Bluetooth.
