R50/53 Fastest 0-60 realistic time for a R53?
Fastest 0-60 realistic time for a R53?
What is your 0-60 times after your standard mods. When I say realistic, I mean without having completely change the engine such as twin charge kit etc. Anyone doing 0-60 in the 4s?
0-60kmh in the 4's would be a challenge in a FWD car. I did, however, see an A1 VW Rabbit that can do the 1/4 in the 10's. It's fully stripped out on drag tires. That's pretty much what it'd take. These are little FWD cars, not made for draggin...
Not sure, but that MINI doesn't look completely stock. Maybe its the blue plug wires... Actually he said not *made* for draggin'.
you're right! and now that you mention it, i think it has some adjustable camber plates too.
I think you're both wrong, that intake pipe clamp doesnt appear factory, wrong manufacturer. LOL. Also, did ya'all see the supercharged Hemi powered one out of NY state? RWD of course, but wow.
In an amusing juxtaposition, I found this:

Take a look at the original 1959 850 MK I - nobody bothered to try a 1/4 mile time, it took 29.6 secs just to hit 60. Course at that point it had prob already exceeded a 1/4 mile. Nice to see that things have advanced some. But I will bet that none of us could top his petrol economy.
So to get on-topic, I would think 5s prob reasonably attainable w/o the engine illustrated above. After that well ..............
1959 Austin Mini Cooper 850 MK 1 0-60 mph 29.6
1961 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 997 0-60 mph 17.9
1962 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 0-60 mph 15.8 Quarter mile 19.5
1963 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 1071 S 0-60 mph 13.4
1963 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 997 0-60 mph 18.0
1964 Austin Mini Cooper S 0-60 mph 12.9 Quarter mile 19.0
1965 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 970 S 0-60 mph 13.0
1966 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 III 1275 S 0-60 mph 10.6
1967 Austin Mini Cooper MK 2 998 0-60 mph 16.8
1971 Austin Mini Cooper MK 1 III 1275 S 0-60 mph 10.4

Well I was looking at the 2004 SRT4 car and driver review and saw the 5.3s 0-60 time and got me wondering right away if it was possible with our R53s. With the stock JCW you can run 6-6.4s so if you shave about 1-1.5s you should be in the 4s (4.9 IS IN THE 4S). Seeing a few of the people claim more than 260 hp here, can you list your 0-60 times and mods?
Realistically, no need to attempt to get crazy with 0-60's with these cars. IMHO, if your high to mid 5's, your ahead of the game compared to most other compact, and even some sports cars. I would focus more on how well the MINI corners. just do the basics, smaller pulley, injectors,GP inter cooler, tune, intake setup and a few other nick knacks and it should be more then enough for the average driver that daily drives his vehicle.
the cooper s in 2003 wich i do own still to this day and its still stock all but a new air filter does 0-60 in about 5 sec its only 2 gears 1st gear takes u to 35 to 40mph 2sec gear will take u to 60 lol i did it when i 1st got it cuz its my 1st 6 speed and top gear sayes its a nice car so i got 1 lol its by far 1 of the fastest cars i have owned power to wait for sure
sry i hate people that seam to think lil car cant make any power hell u can buy stock 4cylnder motors with 1k hp for acuras
u sound like a old redneck bigers better type of guy sry man ill take my lil car vs ur big cars and smoke them every time we call this power to wait if ur car ways 5k and makes 1000hp a car that makes 700hp and ways 3k or less will be faster rwd is no better then fwd in any way but less grip cuz u got push a car vs pulling it

Interesting times on the original Minis ... i had a 995/7/8 Cooper which probably ran around 15 secs ...ish. I did feel fast back in the day because most cars where slower and did not go around corners.
Anyone got some times on the modern Minis, MCS and JCW .... did times change much between 1st and 2nd gen. Another question, my 1st gen MCS CONVERTIBLE is a R52? which is also known as a Cabrio?

Yes
Traction is the issue.
Because they're FWD, MINI's with over 200 hp at the wheels will be challenging the DSC for traction.
MINIs with the horsepower needed for a 4.9 second 0 to 60 run will have great difficulty achieving that feat, because their front tires will spin like crazy. Only wide, hot drag tires from Mickey Thompson would be able to hold on. It is possible, but not for a "lightly" to "typically" modded MCS.
We're talking a purpose-built, extremely modded drag-racing MINI, of which there are few.

Why do we need to go to the name calling,
He is not a idiot, poorly wrote sure.
anyway, I have said it before, ill say it again 200 hp is not a challenge to put down in their car Nor is 300 if you have trouble with it your difficulty's lie elsewhere.
Also as far as the M5 I am a huge bmw fan but i have watched a Honda Fit Completely F up a M5's day on the track.

You sir, are an idiot. The mini was never designed to be a fast car or even compete with these "big cars" you speak of. I have a big, high hp car (BMW M5) along with a Mini Cooper S. They are two totally different animals. The Mini is 1500 lbs lighter and does not hold a candle to what the M5 can do, and never will. It has a completely different purpose and serves that purpose very well
well heres your proof.
The standard holds true, the M5 is litterally twice the car the fit is..... 200 wheel hp.
Just like the new V10 M5 would be 500 thats only a 250 wheel hp mini....
