Blinker Issue..

So Darko has picked up an issue with the blinkers. They sometimes do not turn on, but when the steering wheel goes back it still clicks. Also, sometimes the light on the cluster stays on longer than the blinker does.

I checked the fuses and the boyfriend thinks it could possibly be the BCM.

The seat belt light also comes on every once in a while but that could be because of my airbag light being on.

Have you topped off your blinker fluid recently?

I had similar problems and turns out it was the BCM and my damn factory ipod adapter causing those problems... Good luck!

even new batteries have been known to fail ... it could also be the alternator

it is easy and free to have the battery and alternator checked

Yep, sounds like a BCM issue. A common issue is for it to get wet and corrode. It is located in the pax kick panel. You could pull it to see if it is corroded then try to clean it up. Otherwise it will cost you a new one. You will also need to find that leak if it is corroded.

Thanks, I'll be checking it tomorrow.

Alright, well it's been a few months. The issue finally killed my battery one night, so I took him over to Baron and told them to check the BCM. They took a look at it, and they diagnosed it as a bad BCM so they replaced that but then the next morning I was having the same issues, so they took it overnight and did some extensive tests and came to the conclusion that it was the iPod Adaptor causing the issues. Since that is connected to the bus of the car, which communicates everything to each part, it was causing the malfunctions.

I had to pay for the BCM but since they made a mistake, they covered the iPod Adaptor and labor.

Thanks! I was at work when I read your post; burst out laughing and everyone in the office stopped what they were doing, turned and glared at me. Uncomfortable...

$720 :/ the part itself is about $460 and labor was $145-ish. Plus some sales tax.

What and where is the Body Control Module? Is it just another name for the ECU?

BCM is in the passenger kicker panel. Its part of the ECU, but I'm pretty sure the actual ECU is in the engine bay by the air box. Correct me if I'm wrong..

Anyway, the BCM powers the door locks, air conditioning, blinkers, backlighting, etc. so that plus the vehicle bus are pretty much the cars nervous system and my iPod adaptor was interfering with signal between those because it was shorting and wasn't allowing the relays to actuate.

Thanks for that info, I found the BCM on ECSTuning for 368.00, Hopefully that's not my problem but I think that it could be, I have a bunch of other issues with my car some of them I can do myself but i guess some others I will need a good shop for those. Thanks

Well, you have to still get it programmed at the dealership is what I was told by a shop here.

Diagnosis is free at the dealership.
What all is going on? Is it the same issue as I had?

Yes you are correct, I have a guy here who coded my alarm and some other stuff I think that should be able to do it, if he does he charges a flat fee of 60.00 but first I have to make sure that's what it is, today the car is not blowing fuses anymore and my interior lights are working again, the hatch as well, I know that when I wash the car again it will happen again.
Also you are right about the ECU, it is the one next to the airbox.
Thanks again

I didn't blow any fuses, luckily.

sorry I didn't state the issue.
My interior lights and the hatch fuse was blowing after a car wash, I put about 10 fuses when I used a fuse tester it only showed 0.02V and whenever I activated the interior lights the BCM would make a sound the the lights would dim again and blow the fuse. last night I put a new fuse and it did not blow but the interior lights were dim and then go out so now they work as if nothing was going on. Now before I wash it again I want to check the BMC for moisture and also waterproof the connector in the rear hatch since I also had that "boonk" issue a few car washes before, the is a DYI on this.
I also have an Jet Black 05, you have a really nice car!!
