I just finished putting in a gauge pod on my S, and I made a simple webpage out of it (there are 27 pictures - 56K users must be patient!).

Here is the link:

http://engr.smu.edu/rcam/cpm3v/mini...minigauges.html

This is actually part of my larger website:

You can judge for yourself if you want to tackle a mechanical gauge installation yourself before buying the kit. Personally, I enjoyed doing the work, and the gauges look great:

Darn it, I managed to abbreviate the URL somehow.

Try this:

Excellant writeup. I just finished my gage install last weekend. I used the same brand gages but used electric oil pressure instead and the smaller 2 1/16" gages. It looks very good.

sanddan,

could you post pics of your smaller gauges, please?
How does the electric oil pressure pickup work, what sensor does it use?
Where did you purchase the smaller and electric setup?

TIA!
M.

mvalant,

Your site says you bought the kit off EBay. Was this a one off purchase or is someone retailing to the masses? I did a search but could not find anything.

Here is the link to Ebay. It looks like a good deal for what you get.

Yes, that's the one. The seller contacted me hours after the sale, and I got the kit in two days. Later I had a question about the installation, and my e-mail was answered in a day or so.

A friend of mine saw a few pictures of my installation, and went straight to eBay and bought one of these kits. I'll be helping him install that kit this weekend, most likely.

Mike,
I bought the same set from Dennis Ruvolo. Great Guy. I was in Cleveland, OH and helped me put the guages in.

I just bought a stock Cylinder Head from an S and want to port, polish and do some valve work. I've seen your site on our head and wondering how much you charge for head work or if know of good places to have MCS heads done.

THanks,
CArl

Well, after looking into this Gauge Pod setup, it doesn't appear to be that great of deal. It looks like you could buy the gauges yourself and the Alta Gauge Pod and be right at the same or slightly lower price for this setup. The 2 5/8 mechanical gauges are about 50 each from Jegs including fittings and hoses. I think I'm going to do the same thing only weld up my own aluminum bracket and save $150.

Mvalant,

Can you take a pic of your gauge cluster at night? Just curious to see what the colors look like with the rest of the gauges. Thanks!

Super-Mini,
Thats what I did except I welded it in steel (can't do aluminum). I also used the 2 1/16" gages. I will post pics this weekend. The light color is very close to the stock color except the numbers are black instead of orange. All in all it matches very well I think.
