Good Deal or Bad Deal 08 hardtop S - Mini newbie
Hi,
First post, hopefully not the last. I love BMW products so its only natural that when the next car purchase came along, it would be a Mini. We are picking/paying for it today and I was so excited last night that I woke up at 2:00am and had not slept since!
I am buying a 2008 Mini Cooper S with 45K for $15800 6 speed manual (Link Below)
Here is the VIN: WMWMF73598TT91737
It is the pepper combo which is great here in Phoenix, AZ.
We both (my girly and I) loved it and decided to buy, but we don't know if there is something that we should be looking at. Car is very clean and has had all maintenance/service/recall done at the dealer. Anyone have any hints as to what we should look for?

Thanks in advance,
AK

1. a used car is worth what the buyer is willing to pay for it, and no more. If I want to sell my used car for $10,000 and the highest offer I get is $5,000 I can "sell at a loss" or not sell at all. To me that means the true value was $5,000 . . .
2. Check the Kelly Blue Book . . . price under? I'd say you got a deal. Any 'dealer' is gonna go by KBB.
3. If you are paying ABOVE blue book, know this, and are happy with the car then I say GOOD 4 U .... you are a happy used car buyer.

Looks like a pretty good deal. Although it looks like hes the second owner and you will be the third. Not that it matters much, but I doubt he can speak on behalf of the first owner and how they drove the car..
Looks like a decent price. My advice is to check the oil every time you fill up. The engine tends to burn a lot of oil. There are many horror stories on the forum where this leads to engine failure. Motor on!
That's a nice looking car. Just for comparison sake, I recently picked up an '07 R56 with ~49000 miles in fantastic shape with quite a few options including the navigation system, MINI HIFI audio upgrade, auto climate control, sunroof, cold weather package, and the black leatherette interrior for $16,500 from a private seller. Really the only major option missing was the bluetooth.
The car was pretty much perfect as-is apart from needing two new tires and an oil change.

I say it's a good deal. I picked up an 08 with 40k on it with sport pack, lsd, all black interior, anthracite headliner, piano black trim, brand new brakes and tires for $19,000. Plus, if you're stoked on it that's all that matters really.

Thanks for all of the replies, I really do appreciate it. I did end up buying the Mini last night and couldn't be happier. I already used up my spare toothbrush to clean the interior and ordered the AEM cold air intake. I spoke with a Mini tech at North Scottsdale and he said that these cars burn through oil, so I bought 5 quarts to have on hand. I will try to post some pictures tonight or tomorrow thanks again everyone.
BTW I got this PM from Joe13472000... Thought it was weird that someone was already soliciting from MINI of Tempe.

Not wierd. I PM'd you. I've bought a couple MINI's from Smitty. Both New and Used. And I think that I got a better deal than what you did from Craigslist.
How?
How? Give me an example.. please include TTL
