Clicking noise

My 08 Cooper S makes this clicking nose when either coming to a stop (it'll click once) or when accelerating after coming to a stop.. it may click once, sometimes twice.. I'm not sure if this is coming from the transmission as it is working its way through the gears or if its coming from the tires. I've driven with the windows down and can hear, I think Its coming from the tires but I'm not sure? Anyone have any suggestions or has experienced the same thing?

Do you have a sound clip?

Also do you know which part of the engine it is coming from.

Unfortunately no sound clip as it happens only when I am driving. I only notice it when I'm driving in stop and go conditions (I live in the city) and have noticed the noise coming from the driver side front. It could be the engine, or tires.. I just had my car in for service and they hooked it up to the computer, I am assuming if there was something up with my transmission it would have returned a code no?

I'll have to keep my eye out on it.

It could be a simple case of loose brake pads. I had this occasionally on my MINI with the factory calipers. Now with Wilwood calipers it's a standard occurrence, pads click every time I move forward or reverse. Doesn't bother me since I know exactly what it is.

Which wilwood do you have? I have the forged super light FSL and they don't seem to click at all.

I'd agree with the comments above on the brakes. If you have changed the pads at all, it could just be them sliding a tiny by when you change directions ad first apply the brakes. I'd check to see if it happens after situations like when you ht the brakes after backing out f a parking spot. I used to have the same issue on an older Volvo s60r that had brembo brakes.

Slinger,

Just saw your question. I have the DynaPro DP4 bootless Calipers. Brakes are working fine and I assumed the click is a simple effect of the quick release Pad design. Now that you ask I am a bit concerned that something isn't normal? I think I will call Wilwood tomorrow and see what they say.
