Weird "humming" noise when decelerating or driving in revers

Hi everyone,

I have an 08 Clubman S with 78,000 Kms that has developed clutch related issues. Every now and then, I hear a loud "humming" noise when I downshift form 3rd to 2nd gear, even at very low rpms. This also comes up sometimes when I back into my driveway. I'm now sure this is clutch related as I was in bumper to bumper traffic yesterday and felt/heard the clutch slip twice.

So... it looks like I need a new clutch. I found a couple of BMW/Mini shops nearby so I may skip the dealer. Next decision is should I stick with OEM parts or go aftermarket. Anyone have experience with aftermarket clutches?

I'm worried this will affect driveability and reliability in the future. On the other hand, not happy with having to replace my first clutch in 35 years of driving.

Cheers!
