What is the slot beneath the door armrests for?

It seems built for a specific purpose but I can't figure out what that purpose would be.

Are you talking about the roadmap, driving cap, Sig Sauer storage compartment in the door card?

No one knows. Antenna fits there nicely when I go to the car wash, though.

Heh, I keep my ruger in the hidden compartment above the globe box.

No, if you look there is a narrow trench of sorts running along that panel on the door. It runs into the larger space you are talking about.

I keep a collapsible umbrella in each pocket in the doors, color coordinated to the car of course!

The real answer is rather boring!

It's part of the side impact protection system (SIPS) crush zone.

Good for holding beard gel. (And probably mustache wax if you're in to that kind of thing. Not that there's anything wrong with that.)

You're only allowed to put a MINI branded umbrella there though...

Like the checkered one I have ;-)

I like the Bowie knife idea, but....is that an official, MINI-approved Bowie knife?
Might void your warranty if its not...I think thats on the warning sticker on the windshield...not that I've actually read all of it....dozed off about half-way thru.

S&W M&P 45c +1 extra mag for me

Other side is a FRS radio and or LED flashlight and all the trash/wrappers/labels my wife can shove in there.

When talking to my Service Adviser (while I was holding the knife), he didn't seem to think it voided the warranty at all.

;-)

BTW: I used the knife to trim off all but the emergency phone number on that sticker.
