Considering trading my 2006 MCS for a 2010 MCS JCW... opinions wanted...

My dealership has a black 2010 MCS JCW with 24K miles on it, at what I *think* is a good price ($25,800).
I would be trading in my 2006 MCS with 40K miles on it, which I am in <3 with. I've had her since May 2010 and I still glance back at her after I park and get out. She is spotless.
I do not owe anything on my '06, and would be paying cash after trade for the JCW.

I would be very interested in some knowledgeable opinions. Is 25,800 a good price? Would this be a worthwhile upgrade?
What should I know?

Thanks in advance!!!

Have you driven the JCW? Was it a night and day improvement?

No; so far I've only seen it in the ad on their web site. I want to have a look at it on Tuesday when I go to pick up my R53 from the service dept.

Sounds like a good price to me. Back in December I was trying to decide between my current MINI and a '10 JCW with 18k miles that was pretty basic without many options for $31k. Of course that was their lot price but they could only bring it down to $29k which was part of the reason I went with my S.

You really need to drive it and see for yourself if it is what you want. In my opinion, the upgrade to a JCW would be a good thing. However, I would not make a decision on it sight unseen. Find out the history on the car. Is it a Certified Pre-Owned car? If so, that is a good thing. Check it out on Tuesday and let us know.

Do you know what they would offer you for your car on trade?

No, I don't. I have looked up the kbb trade-in value and they'd have to give me that. Although it'd be a logistical PITA, I'd consider seeing what CarMax would give me if the dealership's offer was not acceptable. I got my '06 at CarMax and they give you a little more if you bought your car there.

If it is a MCS with a JCW kit - not a good price - if it is a factory JCW the price is ok

A search of the VIN does come up as a JCW. Great suggestion!

Go to carmax first. Then you can use that number as leverage. Carmax had offered me $1800 more than the dealership's initial offer for my old Camry. They ended up within $180. And since I wouldn't have to pay taxes if I traded in at the dealer, I didn't have the pain of getting the old car to carmax--which I would have for $1800!

Great minds think alike! I thought of doing exactly that while I was thinking about this and not sleeping! There's a carmax 10 mins from my work so I'm going to definitely take her there!
Thanks!

Drive the JCW before you buy it. I test drove a used JCW base and liked how it felt, but my wife and our 10 year old son had their hearts set on a well optioned used Clubman S. After test driving the Clubman S it felt almost as fast as the JCW - at least at how I would drive it on the street.

Unless you are going to track your JCW - your paid off MCS might be the right choice.
