2013 MCS Aftermarket

Hey all! I am still new to the forum and even the MINI world so please forgive me if this is posted in the wrong section. Also, I am thrilled to of just purchased a brand new hardtop!

Now that I am approaching the break in mileage, I am wanting to start purchasing a few aftermarket parts (exhaust, maybe an intake, etc.). It doesn't seem like any website has updated to show that their parts will fit a 2013 and I just want to be sure that nothing has changed this year on the hardtop that I haven't been able to find via Google. Has anything changed? Does anyone know what I should stay away from, if anything?

Thank you all in advance for your help and I hope I posted this is the correct section!

- Charles

Everything that fits a 11-12 will fit your 13.

if you like the sounds produced by aftermarket intakes and exhausts, then go for it. otherwise, a larger fmic, a catless downpipe, and a tune (when they're available for '13 MCSs) would optimize your hp/$.

I just ordered my MCS 13 a week ago and I would love to get a re-flash when I get the car. I know that Mini has the Access Port and I came from the WRX and loved the Access Port. I have heard that it does not work on the 11-13. Does anyone know if that will be changing anytime soon. What other options are out there for this and how good are they? What is the best first mod for the Mini's?

You are right the Access port will not work with the 11-13's. As far as I know they is no time in the future that we will have the Access port. If ever. I recently got mini Flashed by NM Engineering and it was the best $500 I have ever spent. Really is an awsome flash. Lots of power!!

Best bang for the buck is probably a rear sway bar, lower motor mounts, and FMIC. And dropping the run flats for non run flats.

I know my thinking is probably unpopular with the NAM crowd, but I would seriously consider waiting on a re-flash or ECU tune. That said, I'll probably be getting a tune when the car goes out of warranty. More power is one thing but replacing an engine in the event of an foreseen incident and then having to shell out for a new engine on a brand new car? eew. Sure they may not notice it, but thats a decent risk you'd have to weigh.

I waited all of about 100 miles to make the choice to go with springs and rear sway. The good news is that the mods I made wont incinerate your engine warranty if the dealership does happen to notice them.

For the 2012s there is a sensor in the downpipe, but no sensors after it. From this, I went with a down-pipe back exhaust. I would recommend the noisemaker delete if you do change the exhaust. The constant pops are pretty ricey.
