Ordered Car, but not all options listed in Owner's Lounge

HI,

I am sure this has been covered, but I could not find a thread.

I placed an order on Monday and my car appeared today within the Owner's Lounge. All looks good, except, the black headlight options is not listed. I know I included it within the build at the dealer.

So, here are my questions:

1) Is it normal with mini for options to not all be listed?
2) If this option was not included in the build, is it still possible to add this option (the car is listed as Scheduled for Production).
3) If there is no way to add this option at this point, how much do the black housing cost (if I was to buy them seperately). I really like the black housing over the silver.

Thanks!

When you are in the Lounge looking at the factory ordered options list you can scroll the list to see all the options.

I don't have the answers to the other questions.

I did scroll throught the list and the only option I am not seeing is the black headlights, which makes me think that it was not ordered.

If the dealer screwed up they will make it right. $100 now is a lot cheaper than buying new housings at ~$600-700 each.

Greetings, Sergio! When you ordered your car, did your MA give you the detailed print-out that has each line item listed? It should have your production number at the top and an itemized breakdown of every option on your order.

It would be weird if you didn't get a copy of that, but if you want to see what it looks like, let me know and I can scan a copy of mine and send it to you for reference.

good luck!

I think that the options can be changed up to the point where it starts production. There were a couple points where my options weren't reflected in the OL but I'd suggest following up with your MA.

He gave me a printout when I was at the dealer. I double-checked it, but it is not in front of me and I am second-guessing myself right now. I completed the build late, so they processed the order the next day and sent me the Production Number via email.

How fast to Mini's go into production? When I ordered previous BMWs, it took 2 weeks the first time and 4 the second time for production to start. I am going to give my MA as soon as they open this morning. I am probably just worrying too much about nothing... but that is what happens when you order car (at least it does for me..).

After the car arrives if an option was not ordered, but simple as headlights to add, could they still be added at the dealer option price?

I'm thinking about adding the rear fog light before I pick mine up next week.

There's no set time. It depends on when the dealer has an available production slot. Mine started production about five days after I ordered it as the dealer reallocated a production slot that was originally ordered for dealer stock.

It's probably nothing. OL is notorious for not being updated or not reflecting actual status and options, but check with your dealer for what they ordered. Mine sent me the build sheet.

To ease your mind a bit about the OL listings...I ordered my car in July 2010 and it was delivered August 2010. The OL still lists it as awaiting transport to this day, 2+ years later.

That's what I figured. I had issues with my BMW orders too.

I just took delivery of my Mini a couple weeks ago.

When the OL *first* showed my order, it was missing every option. Within about 3 or 4 days, the options showed up (the full, correct list).

I think there's just some data-entry lag in getting that information into the display on OL.

When you get a chance check your list. If everything is on that then it should show up on the OL soon. Remember that some optional items are done by the dealer.

Yeah, I am going to as soon as I get home. The option that is missing is the black headlights, which I assume would be a factory installed option.

OL is lacking in many ways and MINI would pretty much be doing everyone a favor if they just took it down.

If the order sheet from your MA is right (they should have had you sign it for verification) then I wouldn't worry too much about it. I would ask them to double-check to be sure, but I'd suspect this could just be an option that doesn't show up on the OL.

On my order (a 2012 Countryman) my interior surface kept flip-flopping between 'Black Checkered' (what I ordered) and 'Mini Yours Soda' (which isn't even possible for a CM). The first time I saw it, I asked my MA and she said the system wasn't totally reliable. I eventually noticed that it was switching back and forth every day. Obviously something isn't right in their systems.

Just checked with my MA and everything is accurate (he sent me the build sheet). Even better, the car is already in production!!!!! They moved fast; order was placed very late Monday and put into the system on Tuesday - I am impressed (BMW was never this fast - hope the rest of the process is as fast).

While production is quite fast, transport can take a while, particularly if you're in the western part of the country. Since my car's POE is Port Hueneme, despite rolling off the line on 9/7, I probably won't take delivery until the latter part of October. It got on the ship on 9/15 and won't get off until 10/10. Throw in some time at the VDC and a 1000 mile truck ride and I have a bit of waiting left to go.

Damn, that is a long time. I am in NJ, so we are really close to the port.

When my Green Park was in production, the Lounge told me my "Silver Mini HardTop" was being built. My MA told me not to worry about it - that the Lounge often gets the options wrong. Right now there is a car with my VIN number on it on a ship called the Toronto steaming across the Atlantic towards New York Harbor. I'll soon find out if that car is silver or pepper white with BRG. If it's not the latter, I'll have no problem waiting for them to send the order through again...

When I first ordered mine, the list slowly propagated. It had a few options, then a few more the next day and so on, once it was built all of the options were there.

I had the same thing when I ordered. The Harmon Kardon stereo was not listed but my MA assured it was on the list. It was on the car when I picked it up.

When I check back on Friday, the entire order changed. I have the build sheet from my MA, so I am not worried about it now. However, it would be nice if the online tool was more accurate and up to date. Especially since most of us probably check our status repeatedly.

Only a miniac would would check their cars status 2 to 4 times a day.

I was thinking this as well, having neglected to select that option originally.

Did you have the rear fogs installed at the dealer? Were they able to do it? How much did it cost?
