Drivetrain Best Throaty Exhaust
Best Throaty Exhaust
Okay, I've seen different posts and differing opinions on this topic.
Here are three exhausts I'm considering.
Alta 3" Catback
Akrapovic without the downpipe
Invidia Catback
Thoughts on sound between the three? Thoughts on which one is best between the three?
Thanks in advance for your opinions/thoughts.

Again, not on your list but the NM DP back system is top notch. I did like the borla sound too.

I have the Borla Race. It's actually cheaper than their sport and touring kits. Very nice Low throaty sound. Not a whole lot of pop, but tons of burble. It sounds great at idle next to a bigger car like a wrx, or a Mustang. You can hear it while driving, but not overwhelming. Also no annoying drone at high RPMs. It's tame compared to some I've heard, but when I pull up, people know my MINI means business.
It gives a great low sound that compliments the Supercharger/CAI sound. Doesn't sound like a Rice Burner at all. If I couldn't have the Borla, I'd either go Invidia or Magnaflow.

Nice! I think I'm going with Invidia myself.

Normal q300 de resonated, it was a bit too droney highway for me personally so w/ the fact. jcw back box it got throatier and lost almost all drone.
I might have new piping created but the quality/thickness of the actual steel has a huge difference in the resonance.

=p
I have a stock 2011 R56 S exhaust with an Akrapovic DP and 2nd cat delete. It sounds totally perfect to me. Zero drone ever. Quite at idle and when cruising. Moderate noise while normally accelerating. About 75% on my "loud meter" when at full throttle. It has a pretty deep, meaningful noise and I get lots of compliments. For not being too much work, costing a reasonable amount, and the amazing throttle response gained from the DP, I don't see a better solution.
For reference, 90% on my "loud meter" is embarrassingly loud in that I would not want to be seen in a car like that and is where most riced out Nissans land, riced out Acuras are around 85% and Hondas fall to about 80% (most of this terrible noise is all drone).
Buy a used Akrapovic DP and for around $500 you could have, what I'd consider, a perfect exhaust noise with plenty of power gain.
The only improvement I could imagine would be a JCW muffler for that little extra throat but I'm perfectly happy where I am.

If u went with the turbo back akrapovic, u would be one of the few to have their full system like me and I believe onefish. It's definitely a great exhaust and u will get a ton of people complimenting you on the sound and looks (cf tips) of the exhaust system.
