R50/53 Help Purchasing new DVD Navigation Discs
Help Purchasing new DVD Navigation Discs
Purchasing DVD Navigation Discs
I am wanting to purchase new DVDs from the dealer. ($199.00)
I am receiving conflicting information for my vehicle:
2003 Mini Cooper S
If I go to this site:
https://www.shopminiusa.com
I get the discs selected and they are detailed as:
UPDATE DVD PROFESSIONAL VERSION - Part # 65 90 0 224 1722
If I go to this site:
http://store.minigpsmaps.com
I get the discs selected and they are detailed as:
MINI Coupe - Cooper S 2003
North American Map DVD High
2 Disc Set 2012 Version
So the question is: Which of these sites are correct. I know the car has the MKIV DVD Navigation with the DVD unit mounted under the passenger seat.
I have updated the Navigation system to v32 without any problems.
The current Navigation Disc reads MINI On-Board Navigation System - North America. Version 2003-1
It is produced by Navtech.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as I do not want to buy the wrong DVDs and delay the process.
Thanks.

Order from minigpsmaps.com. Your MKIV system uses "High" format map discs. The "Professional" format is for the 2nd gen Nav system (2007+).
BMW/MINI dropped Navteq as their map supplier a few years ago and switched to TeleAtlas/TomTom. TomTom seems to operate the minigpsmaps website and I just have more confidence in it than the general shopping site shopminiusa.com.

Thanks for the information. It is much appreciated.
Maps are so expensive you start to reach for straws to try and save money.
I ordered some discs off of eBay for $60.00 for both east and west 2012 High Maps.
Should be interesting. Either they are originals, or really good copies. it could go either way to be honest. It says 14 days money back.
I may end up spending the full $200 by the time it is done. But at least I have a better feel for what I am ordering.
Thanks again.
