Interior/Exterior Dang...got my first star burst
I had a crack fixed. It really isn't noticable unless you know it's there and go looking for it. I decided to go this route, hoping that they release a stronger windshield in the near future that I can then upgrade to. Plus, the $60 repair charge was a lot cheaper than replacement.

Yeah, I called my local MINI dealer. They referred me to someone who came to my home and, for $60, filled the separation in the window laminate. I still have the little pit in the class where the rock hit, but the dime-sized star is gone.
If you're going to do this, do it as soon as possible, before moisture and dirt get into the crater.
good luck.

Been there....I think the angle of the MINI's windshield makes it more prone to rocks hitting it. At least it SEEMS that way anyway.
I have one nasty little chip that I tried to fix with a glass repair kit, but to no avail. Luckily it hasn't spread any further. You could give it a shot though...the chip that I tried to repair was pretty deep.

I got nailed by a rock just below the driver's side wiper. It immediatley spread to a 4 inch crack. Called my insurance co and they sent out a guy who filled it. He drilled a little hole at the end of the crack and back filled it. Said it would probably hold, but if not, they would refund the cost of the repair (to my insurance co.) and apply it to a new windshield. All-in-all no charge to me for a $69 repair.
Barely noticeable from outside, but I can see it inside. Doesn't bother me as its not in my line of sight.

Hey thanks guys. Mine's only a quarter inch around but I can see that it's all the way through. I guess it's time to make some calls

Sid,
If you think yours is bad, you should look thru mine right now into the sun. after the 6,000 mile road trip out west it is basically sand blasted. And I had this one put in at 10,000 miles or so. Make sure the next window you have put in is the new part number. Maybe it will help some. Good luck. See you Saturday.

My windshield recieved damage from a rock at 3000 miles. Had it repaired, which lasted about 6 months, then it cracked. I just got a new windshield installed and it is the alleged "new and improved" glass. I am not impressed. The windshield already is pitted after only a week.
There is an upgraded stronger windshield available. It's just not sold by MINI.
Get the aftermarket PPG brand windshield and enjoy the stronger, thicker, higher quality glass
