R50/53 Screwed over by Moss Mini?
Anybody dealt with these guys?
I ordered three items..antenna, K&N typhoon air intake system and magnecor wires..for my Mini Cooper..
Keep in mind that I live way out in the Middle East..
Package arrives, I open it up..it contains the wires and a dashboard cover! meanwhile, I'm billed for the intake and the wires..and the invoice I received has the right items on it, except they packed something completely different! How does that happen? I've ordered from several places, in the States, in the UK, Japan..NEVER have I had this problem..
I emailed them..twice..no reply! anybody got any advice? I'm going to give them a call tomorrow, but the 11 hour time difference makes it quite difficult..

Geez, you'd tend to think they should be double checking orders sent overseas to make sure exchanges weren't necessary given what a PITA it could be.
BTW, how popular is the MINI there in Bahrain?

I also had a similar experience a few months ago. I ordered three or four items but only one of the items (the cheapest item) was in a small box. E-mailing did not help, however, talking to a salesperson took care of the whole problem. Their shipping showed all of the products shipped and their inventory showed the items taken out of stock. I kept the box, with labels but did not have to prove myself (although the box was clearly too small for the items that did not arrive). My missing items arrived the next day (it usually takes two to fours days from CA to HI).
I think someone in their shipping department is stealing items before shipment. I think the company is great but a problem exists in the shipping department.

Sorry someone made a blunder in shipping.
I've heard some negative things about MOSS, but I have ordered from them two or three times, each time online, and everything has arrived in good time.
You won't be truly "screwed over" unless they do not make it right, and I'm sure they will see to it that you get your stuff as ordered.

Hey maybe you'll get to keep the dashboard cover as a gift for the inconvience, and delayed package containing the RIGHT stuff you ordered. Depending on the cost of the item, I wouldn't see the point of them asking to send it back. The shipping alone would deminish the purpose of returning it. And if I were the business that screwed up, I'd make sure to take care of the customer by way of a gester worthy enough to smooth over the wrong-doing. But they do seem like a good business to deal with. Better luck next time.....if there is a next time.
Cheers,
Cheers,
My parents bought the Mont Blanc roof rack from Moss for me for christmas. They ordered it, payed for it, but it never came. Long story short, they STILL have not issued them a refund and it's been three months!!!
They talked to some guy over there and he said the refund would be there by the end of this month. So far...no refund.
In the meantime I had to buy the rack from them myself(needed it for ski trip). Oddly enough I ordered it and it arrived two days later.
Seems like they definitely have a (sporadic) problem with their shipping dept.

While I've always had positve experiences with them, I've heard stories of the same things happening...

I have read a few similar stories, but this still holds true:

With all these stories of misfortune dealing with Moss, that makes me want to look elsewhere for parts. Had no idea. Anyone on here actually work for Moss? Maybe they need to know what we think so as to change what's going on and look into it all. To have that much fall through the cracks is a little much. Maybe they have "bring your kid to work day" too many times in the year. Either that, or there's some incompotent or disgruntled employee in the shipping dept.
Cheerio,
Cheerio,
We've been dealing with Moss for years - way before we got the MINI - because we have always owned some type of British sports car. We have only had 1 foopah in many years and all it took was a phone call to make it right. They are really are great people to deal with.....

I'll never buy from Moss again. I made at least three purchases that went fine, but when they screwed one up, they did NOT make it right, even after numerous phone calls over a number of weeks. I finally just gave up.
And they sent me their stupid PT Cruiser catalog for well over a year, despite me calling to halt it every single f'ing time it showed up.
So now I'm off all their mailing lists completely, and I'll take my business elsewhere. It only takes one botched and willfully uncorrected order to reveal what a company is truly made of, and Moss let me down after I gave them plenty of chances.

The only thing I ordered from Moss was a power steering fan shroud. The problem I had when I went to order it was that they raised the price on the stupid thing. Forever it was $29 then all of the sudden it's like $40:x I spoke to somebody and got it for less because the women said the sale just ended and she could give it to me for a discount. It arrived as ordered....
Sounds like we gave alot of angry customers here!
Problem is calling them costs a small fortune, so they better it make it right..(or else I'll have to talk to my lawyers down there.. takes one phone call to make it turn ugly..)
HOWEVER, where would you guys recommend I get my future mods from?

I've had great luck with Mini Mania, but after attending a pulley party and meeting Randy Webb, I'm now a Webb Motorsports convert. He says that he can get ANYTHING you can find elsewhere at competitive prices and he won't sell you stuff you don't need. Case in point, he sells a 19% pulley but doesn't recommend it for everyday drivers.

I've dealt with Moss since 1979 and have spent literally thousands of dollars over the years with them. They have always made things right by me, even if the error was originally mine (like ordering the wrong part). Be patient and work with them, I'll bet that in the end you wind up fully satisfied.
Just spoke to them..they said that it was shipped! but after checking stock they send they'll send it today..(fingers crossed) and I get to keep the crappy looking dashboard cover..

hope you get your items man!
i have never been screwed over by Moss, but i do notice their prices are higher than just about everybody. Chances are if you find something on their site you want, it WILL be cheaper on at least 5-6 other mini performance/parts sites.
Good luck!
