Wheel Well Fabric

Hello,

Can anyone tell me if the wheel well sound deadening fabric is standard on all R56 Mini's? If so is it easy to remove and replace with non fabric wheel well molding? Thanks!

I replaced the rear one in ours. The terriers chewed a hole in it and they ripped off the arch. I think a new one was about $60, I'm not sure it's sound deadening material, it's just a thin composite that looks like fur on the wheel side and is held on by about 5 push on plastic fasteners. I don't know how you would mold material to fit.

It is a little sound deadening, that is what I was told by the Mini techs. But it is specific to Minis and it is moulded to fit each wheel well. Easy to remove and replace but I am not sure where you can find the non fabric ones. If you know, please tell us.

Forgot to mention, the plastic plugs can be sometimes a little tricky to align during the reinstall but removal is no problem. Requires a fair bit of patience.

Thanks for your input. I am OCD about the undercarriage of the car and I personally think the fabric does not look as good as a dressed plastic wheel well. Maybe the solution is to slam it down so low that you cant see in there.
