about TPMS

Hi
i just changed my wheels to breyton gts-r
i thought mini does not have tpms sensors since i thought mini's tpms system does not require one.
When i reset the tpms, the action goes on and on.

Here is the question.

Does mini's oem wheel has the TPMS sensor?
wheels i used was 16in.
if it does, will it fit to aftermarket wheel? (mine is 17in)
if it not fit which and where should i buy?

ps. mine is 2010 cooper s

What year is your car?

Prior to 2007, no TPM Sensors in the wheels.

after that there are 2 different sensors depending on the year. you can get them at Tire Rack.

When I upgraded my wheels in my 2010 Justa to 17" from 15" wheels, I just had the tire company move my TPMS sensors from the 15" wheels to the 17" wheels, and they worked fine. Then I had the dealer move them from my 2010 to the 2011 MCS I traded for, and again, they worked fine.

to fired mini

I also went from 15 to 17 inch on my justa. Man did it effect the car's performance. When starting off or when approaching a hill, my car feels like it has a anchor dragging (mine is a auto). Did you notice any negative effect on the pickup of the car.

I was working on the car today and put the original 15 inch wheels and tires on a scale and the 17inch Mini lites. The original wheels and tires weighed
29.4 lbs and the 17 inch mini lites and tires weighed 49 lbs. thats an increase of 20 lbs per tire.

I love the look, but not the decrease in performance.

I didn't notice any difference. I have a manual. I went from 15" to 16" and then 17". I tracked the car twice, once with 16" and then the 17". Again, didn't notice a difference. I don't think the extra width of the 17" tires made much difference in the car's handling. When I traded the 2010 for the 2011 I had them move the wheels and tires from the 2010 to the 2011 because I wanted my white wheels to match the white roof, and I didn't want run flats.

They are specific to Mini's, and the year is important.

I have a 2005 justa, and I have a tire pressure light on my dash that used to come on now and then with the factory wheels. When I moved to aftermarket wheels I thought the light would be on constantly. It never has come on once. there's also a tire pressure reset button next to my hand brake. whats up with this?

b4 2007 the MINI did have TPMS but the system runs off the ABS and does not use in the wheel sensors.

The reset button is how you clear the warning when it comes on - see your owner's manual.

ain't got one? http://www.minimania.com/pdfile/2005...IAllModels.pdf
