Pretty sure the tire needs to be xxx/45 r17. xxx being what ever the width is. If they are 17x7 then most likely 205/45 r17. the odometer will be off if you use the tires from the 16in oem. nice rim btw.

Advantage of runflat is you have no spare and if you flat you don't have to change the tire in traffic or in bad weather, or at night.
Advantage of non runflat tire is usually bigger selection of tires, more ride comfort, good handling, longer treadwear depending on which tire.
Stock 16" tires are 195/55-16 on 16x 6.5" wheel
Stock 17" tires are 205/45-17 on 17x7" wheel
TPMS can be swapped from your 16" wheelset to any replacement set wheels.
Best tire size is 205/45-17.
Do you have a lowered suspension or plan to lower it?
Do you have any cold weather or snow to drive in?
Are you only using the tires for street driving, no track or driving events?
Assuming a 17x7" wheel, for general street use in any weather except for deep snow (can be used in cold weather and light snow, wet or dry conditions) you can look at an Ultra High Performance All Season tire.
Continental ExtremeContact DWS (Ultra High Perf All Season tire)
205/45-17 $113 each, 540 treadwear, 24.3" tire diameter
Good longer lasting street tire, comfortable and handles in all weather.
Even if you don't have snow you can benefit from more treadlife.
If you want a tire that is great on performance then-
Michelin Pilot Super Sport (Max Performance tire)
215/45-17 $165 each, 300 treadwear, 24.7" tire diameter is a little taller than stock but works with OEM suspension. This size is less expensive than 205/45-17. This tire costs more but offers much better performance at the expense of faster tire wear.
I just installed a set of Kumho Ecsta 4x tires in 215/45-17. After a few hundred miles they seem pretty good, a lot quieter than the stock Bridgestone runflats. Ride is much less jarring too. They don't seem quite as grippy, but they are great for a daily driving tire so far.

what does the difference?
215 45 17 and 205 45 17
Does it have big difference between those two sizes?
and isn the first 3 digit shows the width of tire?
i m almost down for 205-45-17 Continental ExtremeContact DWS tire.
please give me other options if there is one.

The 215 will be a little bit wider than the 205, if you stay with 45 it will have a slightly taller sidewall because of the wider width. Taller sidewall will make the ride more comfortable but give less grip at the limit. I originally looked into the Conti DWS's but went with Kumho's because they were just as well reviewed but had a good offer going with them at the time.
There is not a big difference for the 215/45-17 but it is a little taller and a little wider than a stock tire so there is less clearance when you drop your suspension. If you are running only stock suspension then this size will work fine.
If you are using the same tire in different sizes then it will be fairly close, ride comfort could be a little better in the 215/45 size but I don't think you will feel much in terms of handling on the street. 215/45-17 is usually a little more expensive and a little heavier, it will have a greater load rating but that is usually not a problem unless you plan to haul heavy things or carry four people all the time.
If you are using different tires then the tire construction, design and materials along with tread compound and pattern will make more difference than the tire size for these two sizes.
Once you get a sidewall lower than 45 series the ride quality gets rougher and the sidewall flex is much less so cornering will be more responsive.
Using standard 17x7" MINI wheels there will be only a slight difference in the tires once mounted since the wheel width will dictate the tire tread width to a great degree. If you were to use aftermarket wheels wider than 7" then the 215/45-17 would be a good choice, 215/40-17 can also be used.
Usually I pick a tire first then check if it comes in a size that will work.
The Continental ExtremeContact DWS is a very good street tire.
205/45-17 costs $113 each and is in stock, 20 lbs each
215/45-17 costs $110 each and is on back order, 20 lbs each
Prices can sometimes vary if the vendor is overstocked or has some reason to reduce a price to clear stock. These prices are very good.

Kumho Ecsta 4X Ultra High Performance All Season tire, 420 treadwear
Some common MINI tire sizes-
205/55-15 $83 each, 19 lbs, V speed rated
195/55-16 $84 each, 19 lbs, V speed rated
205/50-16 $89 each, 20 lbs, W speed rated
205/45-17 $101 each, 20 lbs, W speed rated
215/45-17 $106 each, 21 lbs, W speed rated

Pretty good on performance, good treadwear, not quite as quiet or comfortable as other UHPAS tires. Good value.

I have not had them in winter yet but the warm weather performance has been great.
Funny I was just looking at the same rims for my '07 JCW conv. I thought they were pretty darn nice looking. I too am shopping for tires and concur Mich PSS are superb tires... based on having used Pilots before and reviews I just read. However, I'd research it well. It's not uncommon for some hi perf tires to be less than optimal on cold pavement!
Guess what ? I have Bridgestone Potenza run-flats currently (came with car) and I have to tell ya, they are tremendous tires, if run flat is your pref. Cold weather, summer and wet , they perform excellent. I am not a fan of run flats but these are so good I really don't know that I'd give them up given the peace of mind factor. And mine were made in 8/08 so surely technology has progressed.
This is the setup someone at
TC Kline Racing, Inc presented me:
Breyton GTS-R Wheel 17x7
Including the Tire Pressure monitor system with METAL valve stems
Goodyear Eagle GT tires 205 45 17
Total for this $1468.00 plus shipping and handling to you.
I doubt I'd go with the Goodyears.
If I may ,, what is your price on the rims alone ?
So many choices

I got the Potenza re760 2 months ago. Performance summer tire and I'm extremely happy. Ride, comfort, wet, dry, its all good. But the main reason i would advocate summer tires over all season is winter tires. Bare in mind I live in toronto so our winters are full of snow, but I have a hard time justifying the $500 savings of all season tires vs 2 sets of summer/winter. Safety is always number one for me, whether I'm by my self, there is someone in the passenger seat or a little one in the back seat. The extra cost is always worth it to me. The difference in performance between all season and winter tires in snow is huge.
Op, are you keeping you 16" rims and tires?
If you are and cam use them in the winter then I would go with summer performance tires on your new 17" rims. Just gives you a few more smiles in the summer. For summer performance tires, try Bridgestone potenza RE11 or Dunlop Direzza star specs.

Two years ago, Ferrari launched the 458 Italia a few months before Michelin released its Pilot Super Sport (PSS). Because Ferrari wanted the PSS for the 458 but Michelin didn’t want to preempt its own release, some of the early 458s were delivered on “Michelin Pilot Sport PS2” tires. But those PS2s were actually PSSs. It isn’t hard to understand why Ferrari wanted the “custom” PSSs for the 458.
We praised the PSS for its steering precision in the wet, second only to the Conti. Having the most lateral grip in the wet, at 0.86 g, helped close the lap-time gap with the Conti, too, but the Michelin got there with less finesse and feedback.
It felt firm and planted on the dry autocross and brought the steering wheel to life in our hands, as did the Yoko, the Hankook, and the Dunlop.
The Michelin PSS finished with the second-quickest lap in both the wet and dry autocrosses, just 0.1 and 0.2 second behind the leaders, respectively.
The PSS has the best balance of wet and dry performance we’ve ever experienced in testing. The minute compromises in each discipline make “super” a worthy part of its name. It’s our winner.
