Need Help! Coilover decesion!

Okay,

So I am new to the mini stance scene, but I was very familiar with the BMW stance scene; i had a slammed 330ci.

I just canceled my order of BC coils because I found out the drop was not as low as i wanted.

What are the best coil overs to get for at least a 2.5 drop in the front and 2 + inch drop in the rear?

Please provide your opinions! i could really use the help.

Are there any coils that provide a drop like VMAXX but with dampening settings?

As I understand it, Megans go pretty low, and they have adjustable dampening.

I have KW V3s and they are an awesome set for street and track. However, I am lowered only 0.75" which is fine for me. I don't know how much lower you could go with them, but the more important question is why do you want to? It won't improve handling and road clearance stinks unless you go with smaller wheels and tires, so now you have a worse looking wheel setup. In fact your camber settings are going to be really bad unless you use camber plates up front and rear camber links in back. Why do this?

And end up with a not good looking car that won't handle well and will scrape every road imperfection, dip, speed bump etc. Why not put an air suspension in instead

because slamming cars is the trend and i dont remember him saying he wanted to use these for auto cross? besides an air suspension would handle even worse.

AP coilovers are the only thing iv seen that goes lower then Vmaxx at 90mm but i dont think you can get them in the US. KW coils go down 58mm almost as low as Vmaxx(70mm) but will cost you 3x as much if you want the ones with adj dampers.

if you wanna slam your ride i say the best way to go is Vmaxx. if you wanna track your car then id suggest not slamming it

good luck with the new project

you can get away with 17x9 on a dumped mini just fine. 16x9 looks the best tho IMO

thank you!!

I did not want to bag my mini only because it will not handle as well when I autocross (I do raise it up). Secondly, stanced cars are definitely the new trend. Not that often you see stanced minis around my area so I can't wait to be one of the few. I just ordered my wheels and coils.... first step to the stanced life.

Okay, so here is my temporary set up, I will see how it will look when Everything is installed this week.

Suspension:
Custom BC coilovers ordered. Hopefully it will go lower than their original set up. I called BC and told them how low I want to go and they have been cooperating with me and said I will be happy when they put together the coilovers I want.

Wheels:
this was a complete random choice but it is definitely a temporary wheel set up pending on how it looks. I went with Stance encore wheels with a silver face and white finish. 16x8 et 26 with the possibility of a 5mm spacer in the rear to add a little more poke.

All I am waiting for is my coils. wheels, tires, and hub centric rings are already in.

that will be a great fitment man and nice wheel choice. if you want more poke with that offset you could probably get away with another 20mm or more of poke id say. what size tyre are you going to run? you should check out motoring underground, its where most of the stanced minis like to hang out

20mm spacers? No way. lol. If i am not mistaken, I dont think a mini can get away with a 0 offset. The lowest offset ive seen on a mini is 15 and thats already too much.

Here is the stance I am gonig for.

16x8 offset 20 in the front.
16x9 offset 25 in the rear.

lol dude thats TheWanderer's mini, hes on m|u. a mini can definitely get away with a 0 on an 8". you can also do 9 et15 and even 9.5 et20. all these are fine just as long as you keep that 205 40 stretch. all will rub the fender like a **** tho even your rear 9 et25. i wasnt trying to say use a spacer i was just trying to let you know what kind of clearance and space you will have. using spacers is gay

okay so they messed up my BC order and sent me r56 coils so i think im going to return them and just get a full refund.

Question: If i buy vmaxx coils purely for slammed purposes, do i need to buy anything additional to make this set up work?

Lots of misinformation.

Air ride can handle just as good if not better than some coilovers. If you dont believe me look up the air ride sti track day and tell me im wrong.

Next KWs go the lowest out of any of them.

Also, since i have done the mini stance thing all ready.. i can tell you that our cars axles wont enjoy super low for very long. On my 15th axle, granted im an R56S. But ive never seen another R56 go as low as me statically.

There is a kid on here with vmaxxs.. and on 17s and low as he can go he was 22.6" fender to ground. With my KW V1s only down 8 of ~40 threads i was at 22.6" fender to ground. And when i was slammed was about 21.1" fender to ground.

R56 coils fit R53s.
