i drive a MC which just turned a year old. no problems, really (on it's second windscreen, but it seems we've all been through this) except for a boot latch thingie which was finally sorted out. no complaints, dealer has been great, love the car, in fact have never felt this way about an automobile. it is, however, a Cooper because at the time it was ordered i wanted an MCS, but was told that i was looking at 10 months to a year wait. not being that patient, we ordered the Cooper and have enjoyed it immensely. but i want an MCS. why? "guts", mental illness, unfinished business, i don't know. we test drove both, and i suspect had i not driven the MCS i would never have missed it. but i did. anyway, our dealer said that since we purchased our Cooper there, if we wanted to order an MCS there would be no wait to place the order and could probably get the car in 90 days. my question (finally) is, has anyone heard anything which would seem to indicate that waiting until the 2005's go into build a good idea? i.e., would it be prudent to wait? (yes, i know about the convertible, but don't want one).
whatever i do, i will be selling my Cooper when the MCS arrives. would love to have both, but not really feasible.

any thoughts greatly appreciated.

paddy

I was thinking about not getting a 03 MCS and waiting for a 04 MCS last year. Well I bought the 03 and been having a blast ever since.

There will always be reasons to wait and also to buy now. If you are like me, it was hard to wait the extra months for the newer car.

My 03 MCS runs great with no problems or rattles. In my case, I'm glad I got this MINI and did not wait for the 04.

Most manufacturing companies have cadres of very brilliant engineers coming up with improvements on a continuous basis. An 01 model widget will be better than an 00, and 02 better than an 01 etc., etc., he who hesitates is lost.....on the other hand if you wait for the epitome of a product, you'll never get it.......same thing applies to MINI's.....surely the 05 will be better, so will the 09.......

I wouldn't wait. I would also go to a dealer that'll be able to deliver one
off the lot.

I went for an 04 because it seemed that the changes to the 05 were all aesthetic, and I really didn't like any of them. The 04 will be the last year of the "Mark 1" Mini's - ultimately the most valuable and sought after...
