Short throw shift mods

Anyone know how difficult it is on a 2012 Cooper S to install short shifter mods? Below are links to the two I was debating between.

the adapter is easier but neither would be difficult. both are installed via the same procedure the craven just has one more step.

drop exhaust, move heat shield, remove shift box cover, remove shift linkage from lever, now you just add the adapter or pull the whole lever and replace with the craven(or any other brand as they are all basically the same.)

the Craven short shifter is the way to go. I put it in my Clubman and it is supernice as it's easy for you to adjust and has a great feel, even when it's not adjusted short.

short shifter

About how long would you estimate the install time for the craven short shift takes?

It took approximately 2 hours to install a SSK on our project Mini Cooper (http://www.pelicanparts.com/techarti..._Shift_Kit.htm). It might take you even less time if you're handy with the wrench...

Does installing shift mods void the manufacturer warranty?

I'm not sure but I think they'll void your warranty if the mod directly causes a malfunction in that area. But, if you're service adviser is cool, then you shouldn't have to worry...

I'd agree with pelican here. Your entire engine warranty will not be voided just because you have a short shifter. However, if you come into issues with the shift linkage, cables, or clutch or internal transmission issues that you want warranty to pay for, a short shifter may seem like an eyesore that perhaps you abused your trans and therefore may or may not be covered. These things all depend on the service advisor and the technician that works on it, whether they believe you may have abused the shifting system on the car.

Chances of anything going wrong shiftwise in the first 50k miles though is pretty unlikely anyways though so I'd say its a safe mod. Plus, if you do have issues, you can always return the vehicle back to stock if you save your parts before you bring it into the dealer for trans issues should any arise.
