timing chain tensioner recall?

i've read some thread that says that dealer recalls for timing chain tensioner even though it's out of warranty?. i got 07 justa, these days i think i am having problem with it. i hear rattle noise from engine and i wonder if dealer really covers timing chain tensioner for free.? anybody knows? if so, anybody who lives around southern california did it? and let me know which dealership was.
thanks

I have yet to hear about a timing chain/tensioner recall although they need to do one. It's mostly the S models that have the problem, not the justas...

Justa's are not included in the Chain Tensioner problem. That is not to say there is not a problem with your car but it is probably something else.

As for a recall on it yes MINI should probably do so but it is hard to get them to do anything if it is not a safety issue. And although in some ways it could be safety related it does not seem to be enough of a safety issue to cause NTSA to do anything about it.

Timing Chain

I would say to call the dealership directly and ask them.
I called, and they replace mine with no questions.

I took my 2010 in for a regular service and mentioned the cold start up noise. Today they are replacing the tensioner, gears, and whatever else is in there. 28K miles.

I brought my MCS in for service a few months back and they replaced it without me asking. Said it was a new TSB out to swap in as the cars came in for service.

yyj,

Hate to be captain obvious but have you checked your oil level to make sure you are topped up and ready to go?

As already mentioned, the justa motor does not have the tensioner problem.

Mine was done as well due to the noise it was making. They did some measurements on the chain and it was stretched so they changed out the chain and tensioner. I'm not sure what would have happened if I was out of warranty though. Some here have had to pay out of pocket because there is no recall as of yet.
