so heres the deal I bought a 03 cooper S a week ago and just yesterday I noticed that if I put he window all the way down it makes a sorta slipping noise and vibrates when I put it up. This doesnt happen i its says half way down and I put it up. Ive read that these cars have issues with window motors bt im wondering if this is a fixable or a replaceable only issue. Now keep in mind have a flee of 20+yr saabs and love getting my hands dirty and can take apart fix and put things back together without freaking out. Any suggesstions would be wonderful.

 

replace your "window regulator". its not a motor, but the pulley and cable system that holds and moves the windows.

a good mini tech can do it in 1/2 an hour. cost of the regulator is over $100 though :(

if your under warranty, bring it in!

 

Pop the door panel off and have a look at it under operation. The regulator slides may just need some fresh grease. The regulator is $200 from MINI and not a big deal to change, but you may not need to.

 

a dab of grease and its good to go, thank you.. just like an old saab take it apart and lube it up..

 

Ah, I'll have to add this to the list of things to do when I take apart my window regulator system! Thanks for the tip.
