Traffic ticket in Houston today....

I usually go with the faster flow of traffic, but I am not normally a boy racer.

Well, today I was in a rush, trying to get out of Houston and headed for Dallas and on to St. Louis - tried going a little quicker than normal. I was on my way to pickup a rental car - I prefer not to put a gazillion miles on the CMS.

Who would have thought the local Houston constabulary had a 2012 white plain wrapper Camaro? He gave me a ticket for doing 75 in a 65 although I was probably doing more like 80.

On the road between Houston and Bentonville, AR, there was a lot of automobiles with flashing lights pulling people over. With my newly minted ticket, I am going no faster than 5 over for the foreseeable future. With fuel and bio breaks, I averaged 67mph for the 600 miles I did today.

Bummer. I'm still waiting for my 1st in the CM. Just did a Seattle to San Fran and back trip, saw maybe 4 cops the entire time, all but one going the other way

It's definitely easier to drive faster in a MINI. Take care.

I did the 250 or so miles between Vegas and San Diego on Saturday and noticed a few *** clowns weaving in and out, cutting in front of other cars and seriously speeding and wished the cops were on their case. I generally try to keep it to 5 to 7 over but there were a few times on Saturday where I looked down and saw myself going as much as 18 over, causing me to back off and tell myself to calm down.

Glad to see someone taking their lumps without whining or being overly dramatic about having received a ticket. Starman is right: it's easy to speed in a MINI.

Take care

I used to regularly drive 59 north of Houston traveling between Louisiana or Memphis, and there were certain spots where I almost always saw law enforcement. I forget exactly where, but somewhere just south of Cleveland was bad, as was another place just outside of Lufkin. Particularly bad are/were some of the smaller towns north of Nacogdoches. Got stopped in one of them once for having no front license plate! Definitely NOT a driver-friendly stretch of highway; too many 'revenue enhancement' opportunities. Wonder if it'll get better if/when it ever becomes part of the Interstate system.

I find I'm way more aggressive in the Cooper than the CMS. Haven't had a ticket in 7 years though, I think I'm due for one soon.

I did set my "speed limit" in the CMS to 140km/h (87mph) and I've hit it twice already.

So true...especially in my case, where my CMS is new and I haven't yet perfected my instrument scan. If it weren't for the whine of the runflats, I wouldn't have been aware of the times I was speeding.
