Navigation & Audio satellite presets- am I missing something?
satellite presets- am I missing something?
Ok, so "favorites" are artists/songs you like, regardless of station, and "presets" are stations, right?
Either this design is ridiculously stupid, or I'm missing something- I'm hoping the latter.
Of the 100+ satellite stations, I saved the ones I listen to most as presets.
but is the only way to access these through the "preset" menu (the one that includes my FM presets too)?
If I choose a station from the presets menu, I can't seem to get the screen that shows song/artist info. But if I choose the station I want from the master list, and CAN see the song info... if I want to change stations, I have to scroll through a ton to get to the next one I want? I want to be able to skip between my favorite, sorry, PRESET, stations AND see artist song info. Is that really not possible??
anyone?
Also- what/where is HD radio? is it just glorified FM? i don't see anything about it anywhere in the menus, but to be honest I haven't spent much time with the FM.

It's not the most elegant design, by a long shot.
Just as you're seeing: select a preset satellite station, it starts streaming, and you get (limited) info on a scroll. Press "Info", and you can get a fixed display of artist / program info, but then channel up/down (using the SWCs) clicks through every friggen station, not your presets. You have to press "return" (the arrow) on the right of the headunit to get your satellite presets back.
And would it have been so hard to be able to change "mode" from the SWCs also? Versus, press "mode", then turn the **** to get from tuner to satellite to CD to Aux.
HD radio, just an AM thing as far as I know; mine changes to HD play when I have an AM station that offers it (like KMOX here in STL). Sounds *lots* better, woulda loved to have had this "back in the day" of Top40 music only on AM and with very compressed audio signal!
"Favorites". Ah, what an era when satellite radio was first designed. You could enter an artist or song, and the radio would magically tune to a channel when that artist or song was played. "I really love Here Come the Mummies, maybe some station will play them sometime!" and my radio will stop what it's doing and tune to them. Cool! An era before MP3s everywhere, iPods, Pandora, etc. made playing favorite music, whenever you cared to, very easy indeed.

Oops I should have clarified- I have mini connected/nav so my controls are different. But it sounds like, unfortunately, what I'm seeing really is the truth. who on earth came up with that?? I mean I do like the idea of having presets across radio bands all in one place, I guess, but, I'd also like to be able to access satellite presets from within satellite 'mode'.
As is not having a clock visible AT ALL TIMES.
