Navigation & Audio iPod/USB connection not working
iPod/USB connection not working
Hi everyone!
I apologize if this has been answered a thousand times already but I couldn't find anything.
I have a brand new '12 MCS Coupe, with mini connected and nav.
I can't get my iPod to play via Y-cable.
It did in the beginning. But since then I've been playing around with all the different features... I don't think I did anything, but, now the iPod won't connect.
If I go to main menu>CD/external devices>external devices it shows up at the top of the list by the USB icon. But if I select it with the joystick, it changes to "not connected" and the iPod actually resets (like, black screen with the white apple, full reboot.) Then once the iPod is fully started up, it reappears in the list. But again, if I try to select it, it goes away, and the iPod restarts.
I also have the armrest adapter for my iPhone, and I know the y-cable won't work if there's anything in there. (which is a huge bummer!)
It's an iPod classic. I'm connecting with the Y-cable it came with.
Like I said, it did work at first.
I've also noticed the "plugin" feature of mini connected says no compatible device is connected- even though it is. And, again, that has worked for me in the past.
So, something has changed. It worked, now it doesn't, and I don't know what happened.
I'm going to sync the iPod with iTunes in the meantime and see if it needs any updates, but I'm not sure what else to try.
Again sorry if this is a total newbie question; I'm still trying to sort out all these ins and outs of this new system.
(and one last dumb question- I placed the order 5/10/12. It was produced a couple weeks later. How do I know if I have the latest software?)

It's an ipod classic... about 2 years old. Not sure which generation that is (i.e. not sure if they've updated the line since I got it).
But, moot point, it's working now. not sure if it was the itunes sync or what, but, it's working.
