enkei rpf1 16x8 +38 help

well I am fairly new to the mini forums and before anyone tells me to go and search, I have...I've looked through countless threads on this forum along with others, and google and tirerack and all sorts of stuff.

What im looking for is some pictures of a Rpf1 rim with 16x8, +38 offset on a r53 MCS. I know people have to run these rims, but i only see people running them in the 7 inch width. I want to go for the meaty tire type look and maybe be able to see some pictures for reference before i go and spend some money on rims and tires. Any help would be appreciated and to help steer me in the right direction.

Right now i have BC coilovers, and want to run a 225/45/16 tire on a 16x8, +38. Is this gonna happen or no? help me out please, i came from the volkswagen world...where stretching tire and air ride is a must, and i don't want that look for my Mini. Thanks

Ill be happy to help. I am running the 16x8 38 with a 225/45/16. Fits just fine on the inside but will rub. I had to do some clearing to make them work. 215s will work a little better.

To be more specific for you. I had to trim the front arches, just the ones assigned to the hood. I had to trim the rear arches both on the body and the rear bumper. Also had to trim the rear fender liners.

Depends on how low you are honestly. If you do not plan to tuck under the arch you should not have many issues.

very helpful, thank you. So its mainly just trimming a few of the arches? No problems with the tire rubbing the body of the shock? I actually work at a body shop, so trimming and stuff is fairly simple and second hand nature to me. My main concern was if the rim and tire combo i wanted was going to be too wide for the shock bodies. Thanks a lot, i appreciate the help. Car looks great btw

I'll post more later. But no shock issues at all in the rear. I run a 5mm up front though.

Time to resurrect this thread! Professor, I love the stance of your car, great choice of wheel + tire combo. I am looking to do something similar.

I am also planning on getting the enkei rpf1, but I want them in 16x7 instead of 16x8. Your 16x8 have an offset at et38, but I notice that enkei sells the 16x7 for the rpf01 in et 35 or et 43 with nothing in between. I am worried that the et43 might be too close to stock for any difference, and et 35 might be too much. Am I right in thinking that a 16x7 et 35 wheel would actually stick out less than a 16x8 et38 wheel? The way I understand offsets, even if the offset is more, the fact that it is a 7 inch wheel would more than cancel out the greater offset. I ask this because I would like my wheels to be slightly less wide than yours, and I think the 16x7 et 35 would accomplish that. I just wanted to confirm this.

I'm also planning on getting 215/45/16 tires -- I figure this would kind of put me halfway to what you have -- a meatier looking tire than stock, but still slightly less overall diameter than my current 205/45/17.

Any help appreciated. I was thinking 17 inch all the way because of looks until I searched and found your car and saw how good the stance was. This has definitely changed my mind

Your wheels should tuck in about 0.4" in comparison to the 8" wide

Im looking at this same wheel and tire combo for my 2013 roadster. I have Koni Sports and TSW springs that only drop the car about 3/4 inch. Will I need to do anything to make them fit? Will they clear shock body up front? Will I need to trim anything in front or rear fender areas?

I've used this site for a long time to determine what the stance will be like.

http://www.1010tires.com/Tools/Wheel-Offset-Calculator

Just enter the current size/offset and the new size offset.

So 16x7 +35 will give 16mm more inner clearance and sink in 10mm to the outer wheel well compared to the 16x8 +38's.

im planning to run 225/45/16 also with the same wheels.. lowered on H&R springs about 1.4" drop... would I be ok?
