First Oil Change and storage

Completed my first oil change today...that was easy...(minus the oil filter, hasn't arrived yet and I'm deploying)...

Just under 2k miles on the car, I figure I'll change the oil again when I return and the filter...haha

Anyways, as I'll be leaving soon, any suggestions on what I should do with the car while it basically is in storage for 6+ months? It will be out of the weather inside a garage.

BTW, I have used the Pela Oil extractor twice this weekend (my Mini and the wife's Audi A4). I've got to say I love that thing. Pulls all the oil out and no mess. Makes my life easy!

Pump up the tires high to limit flat spots?

I have a pela pump too, it's so handy for quick oil changes

If you can get it off the ground, better yet. Then put on a battery tender, and you should be good to go.

God speed and thanks for your service.

disconnect the negative battery cable and secure it so it cannot make contaqct with the negative battery terminal

get a "storage" type trickle battery charger

ideally, put the car on jack stands or blocks with no weight on the tires

when you return, change the oil and filter again

Sta-bil in the gas, as well. Full tank (not much air in the tank) to help reduce evaporation.

Dont put the car on stands unless you are sure the suspension is compressed. Its not a big deal at all though. Id leave it down. Much easier and safer. Full tank of fuel, some fuel additive, park the tires on cardboard or I prefer a thick old rug, a battery tender and leave it alone. Leave the battery hooked up. Don't have anyone start it. Just leave it until its coming out of storage.

I wouldn't worry too much about putting it on stands. I was in Korea for a year and just pumped up the tires, disconnected the battery and put some sta-bil in the tank. Had no problems when I got back. Good Luck and Godspeed!
