Rear Passenger Panel Noise

I have a 2010 R57 and have noticed an increase in a very specific vibration or clunk sound from the rear passenger side.

My initial thoughts were the seatbelt retractor was loose and banging around over gentle or more major bumps....however this is not the cause of the sound. Would it possibly be a result of the Harmon Kardon speaker not being secure within the panel?

Any advice or prior experience would be greatly appreciated

walk0080 - All R57's have a "sunroof"

e46jb - "clunk sound from the rear passenger side"

To those new to the R57, there is a small Gremlin that lives in the trunk. He is very hard to locate and get rid of. Most owners never find him, they just hear him bouncing when going around a corner and he wasn't paying attention. He's kinda like a poltergeist in the attic only smaller.

I know what you mean about the gremlin; my name for him is Tom.

I just wish I had the ability to start ripping things apart to locate and resolve the issue.

Mine makes the same noises even when the top is down. Taking the car in this week for 1 year oil change (7500mi) hope they find the noise.

Now that is funny. I mean hoping the dealer finds a noise. You must be pretty young or you would know; all gremlins take a nap at the dealership.

58 years young. I can get it to make the noise by just tapping the gas on in gear on the service drive. Since they will hear it i hope they can fix it.

We have a '13 S vert and a '11 JCW vert and both make this sound over bumps with the top UP...I don't hear anything with the top down.

Has anyone located the source of these gremlins?

I had this noise and the fix was to adjust the door shut locating latch. The noise sounds like it is quite a way behind you, but, this was defo the fix. I think the dealer lifted the door latch up on the car and that fixed it. Dave

Was it the latch being loose, or the door not resting it on properly?

Nothing was loose as I recall, the technician mentioned that the R57 flexes a bit more than most so the door catches need to be spot on, so, he moved the latch in and up a little he told me, that way the door is shut tighter and also higher so any flex will not clonk in any potential gap between the latch and the lock (hope that makes sense)

Thanks. I took our 2011 into the dealer and they got rid of the clunking by accessing sand securing components behind the panels that had shifted out of place... not sure what is back there but the noise is gone.
