05 Convertible top not unlocking/releasing on passenger side.

I own a 05 convertible. The locking mechanism needed to be replaced on the drivers side as it the hinge broke. The sunroof portion would go back a few inches, stop and then make the clicking noise and the red light would come on.: part number 54347174763 Locking hook, convertible top.

We replaced it and now The drivers side disengages but the passenger side does not. The motor makes a clicking sound and the light blicks red. It seems that the the locking hooks are not in sync, almost like they need to be aligned. Is there a way of doing this? I dont think the motor is shot, just the sensors are not all on the same page.
Thanks for the help

Try rolling down the windows then up again(full cycle), this may reset it for you.
Worked for me one time when roof froze.

If the full cycle doesn't work you might try this. I had a similar problem a few months back. I readjusted the rear deck cargo cover and that fixed it. I believe that if the rear deck cover is not correctly in place it messes with the sensors. Hope it works for you.

Thank you for the replies but this isnt about something blocking the top from moving. It is about the driver and the passenger locking mechanism not releasing at the same time. The driver side fully unlocks but the passenger side does not. The passenger side all the parts work, cable connected. It seems they are not in sync. Looking to see if there is a manual way of syncing them. The top only opens a few inches because the passenger side isnt releasing.

The cargo deck cover? Now if it is not in position correctly and its hampering the top comng down, I get it but if its in place and not hampering movement, I don't understand.

It's not due to the shelf physically blocking the roof. It has to be in the correct position. See this thread for a better explanation

DScabrio-
I see the button that this is referencing....thank you.

Tried all the tricks...windows, making sure the button in the trunk is pushed in but nothing. Now the motor just makes the "buzz/zapping" noise. Neither driver nor passenger locking mechanism releases. Could be a number of things....still not aligned correctly, cables not working or the motor is simply shot. The top wants to open as the sunroof tries to but something is preventing it.

When you replaced the parts did you notice if the new one matched the old one? I am replacing the locking hooks on my wife's convert but noticed the new latches have a nub that binds up when locked. Check to see if it is hitting anything.
